Munch,
What's the difference if someone put the Q-Tips in a pressure cooker before dabbing a print or whatever?
Noc,
Here's a 200 pack of them. I might grab some to see if I have better experience than with a loop.
azur,
I love those little Sterilites. I have some of your dicks colonizing them now. I figure since PE doesn't get THAT tall, they'll fruit fine in there.

Hell yea. Though I'll only be using em for dub tubs until my room is built. Then I'll need to find a new home for an ass load of empty monotubs

Yeah, I saw that. You'll definitely need to fruit it differently. Can't you just set the entire thing, lid off, in a monotub?

I'd be worried about that qtip swab. swabs should be made with medical grade sterilized wooden swabs.

Why worry about the plastic qtips?

ive swabbed more than 20 with regular cotton paper swabs. i sterilize them in the pc. then use them. 20 out of 20 plates germinated uncontaminated, grew out, fruited!
i can't find those medical grade anywhere local. and they are expensive for shipping online at the cheapest source.

Oh, so the plastic ones could be sterilized! I did grow this beauty out from a plastic qtip just like that one

Sweet. Yeah I mostly wanted them for trades, and to store PE spores.

These jars were all G2G's. I just love the look of healthy mycelium. They were all used to make two 66qt monotubs today. And so it begins...

You can make cotton q-tips sterile my just pressure cooking them.
I also have a theory that they're sterile out of the box, based on my own use of them in that fashion.

It wouldn't be in the manufacturers best interest if any contagions were linked back to the factory, I'm sure they probably are sterile.
Problem is, they just aren't fucking long enough... Unless I wield them with pliers it goes way against "don't put your hands near your work".

I think you're correct. If the qtip that produced that culture was produced in that manner than I think youre absolutely right

A box of 200 only cost a couple bucks. If you don't want to cut them in half just snipping off the one end would give you more length. Still slightly short though. But they work.
