Uh lol.
So The Black Angels are the only constant in my life. That, and sexual frustration.

Interesting. Never heard of the Black Angels though. I'm gonna check 'em out. Thanks!

I dunno. It dawned on me earlier today and then I saw this thread. I'm extremely gullible. People play tricks on me alot and I fall for them. It's all in good fun. And I've been told I'm a pretty innocent person. My friends tell me that and they feel like they need to protect me or something... I feel the need to keep innocence in my life, especially innocent joy.
Sometimes makes me feel really stupid and weak though.

I can relate to that. *Being gullible and easily tricked or manipulated. Not fun. Very confusing also- who to trust? How have you been coping?

it's really a trick question really with a couple of problems imo
1. if the past is something we make up in the present and the future is unknown, how can we say with any certainty what is 'constant'.
my body may be constant in my life, but is my awarenesss of it? sometimes i will dream it is something else, or i will forget about it altogether...
can facts be constant? the sun rising? a fact deduced from empirical observation, i have surely not always been aware of it (i sleep in ) and it may not always rise who knows..
but that is prob as certain as we can get about things..
2. we could literally not recognise constants in our experience if there were any. for example if we had only been exposed to different shades of blue in our life, or there had been a constant hum sounding, we would not be able to recognise what blue was, or that there was such a hum at all

Thank you for your response. Your analogy, using shades of blue, reminds me of another I read in a Deepak Chopra book called "Life After Death". He asks: How could the deep sea fish know what it's like to be dry, when in its life will never experience "non-wetness." So, does that mean dry doesn't exist?

Earlier this evening, I had a moment of kensho while looking at my shelves of mushroom pixies and such in the bathroom. It was a joy that lept in my heart along with the insight of the preciousness of this life, followed immediately with the realization that the joy was integrally connected with my sensate life AND that it would end in death. The whole experience took less than a second. The joy was strong, the sadness short-lived.
that was beautiful

Suffering. I can rely on suffering to enslave and redeem me, over and over again.
