I went for a walk this morning and came across an injured pigeon.Something was wrong with its wing,it couldnt fly,all the feathers were gone.It was sitting in a doorway huddled up in the corner.Well i had my dog with me so iran him home quick(he would have killed the bird)and ran back. When I got there the pigeon was still there,so i tried to catch him.My aunt owns an animal rescue so i figured she would know what to do.Well he may not have been able to fly but he sure could run.I chased him for 10 minutes. It apeared at least that besides his wing he was in good health.By this time he had found his way back into the doorway of the apartment building where i had first seen him.I decided to run back to the house and one of those cat carriers which i figured i could use to trap him in and then carry him back.Well when i got back(not even 10 minutes later)he was dead.right in the same spot as when i left, just in a little ball, dead. I picked him up and brought him home and buried him in the woods. I dont know what happened i cant help but think that maybe the reason he was huddled in the doorway was because he somehow knew he was gonna die . I know its only a pigeon but i hate to see any animal hurt and suffering, besides when you live in the city you learn to appreciate the wildlife you do have.like birds and squirls and chipmunks ect... well i just wanted to share it,it made me sad.this is for the pigeon!

That is very sad.
However, it should be noted that pigeons carry all kinds of nasty diseases especially in the city. That pigeon could have had the black plague for all we know.
I wonder if this is an omen.

No, he is right, you scared it to death, you say you chased it around for 10 mins, well a stressed half starved bird could easerly die from such an experiance. No worries though, what else was your choice? Well done for trying, i commend you, i would have done the same myself, even knowing the capture could kill it.
This about animals carrying deases, don't let that stop you, as we can always wash our hands

Pidgeon only carry one really nasty disease as far as I know and its a fungal infection that whos symptoms mimic tuberculosis, histoplasmosis .
you have to be exposed to the droppings, but most people are unaffected by it, it is more common in the ohio valley, and can contribute to someone dying when it becomes systemic. Very nasty.

Ever seen a pigeon in the wilderness before? Watch the documentary winged migration, they got some in the background in the crane scenes I think. You wanna see some amazing bird shit, you check out what happens to the bird with the broken wing on the east coast of africa. I'll give you a hint: hot sun, desert, hordes of ..
