Habitat: Soil - Found in a woody area, growing by the roots of a live tree.
Gills: The gill color varies from a white to a light yellow color. The gills are possibly free or adnexed (still learning, couldn't really tell)
Stem: Whitish, slightly enlarged at base.
Cap: Whitish yellow to brown, smooth, slick/slimy when wet; younger ones were more bulbous
Spore print color: Couldn't get a sport print.
Bruising: No color change.
Location: New England (US).
I did as much research as a could and thought it might at the very least be an amanita, but what kind, im not sure. I thought it might be Amanita Gemmata because of its pale colour, but I dident want to take any chances.
Any Thoughts?

There's a shit ton of white amanitas out there and proper id has A LOT to do with the actual volva which is not shown in your pic. Here is a link with a key that helps identify most North American amanitas.
http://www.mushroomexpert.com/amanita.html. perhaps cokerii....IDK....good luck, hopefully, this will help.

Nope....and I certainly don't deserve one....I'm still a noob at most of this...I am fascinated by all the amanitas, though...someone set me up with that link last year.

Here's a much better one by Rob Tulloss, who is the #1 Amanita expert worldwide: http://www.amanitaceae.org/?Home
I can't remember seeing any of Thayer's post here before, but Elprawn has always been helpful, knowledgeable and accurate. I'm no shot-caller here by any means, but Elprawn has my vote for TI.
