Haven't been here long enough to ask anything in the sponsor forum but I was just wondering what seems to be the most consistent sponsor in terms of speedy service and darkest prints? I'm looking for 2-3 prints at a reasonable price, I just fucked up my lady Chilean print in my SAB... Caught that baby on fire after not waiting long enough between cleaning and flame sterilization of Innoc. loop for agar. FML. Anyway looking for best price fastest, promised my friend to show him how to do agar plates and transfer when he gets up here in a week and a half thanks, sorry if it's the wrong spot but my account isn't letting me post my own thread anywhere right now, I just hit 50 posts so idk whats up?
Just PM me whatever vendor you think is best for what I stated above so I don't totally thread jack this crazy helpful thread.

I surround myself with people who aren't afraid to live. They have had what they love most taken from them, be it freedom, love, money, or anything for that matter. When you lose your greatest love you also lose your greatest fear, when that happens you are completely and utterly free.

Quick clarification, I am growing my first B+ spores on PF TEK substrate (brown rice and vermicculite with water, plus the dry layer of vermicculite on top) and I've got a couple healthy looking mycellium colonies.
It should be another week or two before I see any initial pinning/flowering, but I wanted to clarify the dry dessication process: PF TEK recommends a plastic tub filled with an inch of desiccant (I'm going to use silica gel for drying flowers) in a plastic tub, plus a wire screen to separate the mushrooms from the desiccant, and then wrapping the whole tub in a plastic bag and then tying off the opening of the bag, where a "garbage bag type tie is sufficient". Does this mean I could actually use a plain garbage bag with the normal ties for the dessication? Does anyone recommend something else?

Dude all you need is the plastic tub with a separation from the desiccant and the drying mushrooms. Whatever bag you're talking about is not gonna do any better than just the tub properly built.
Just wondering but you do know that you'll have to dry by fan for 24 to 48 hours before you place them in your desiccant chamber right?

I actually did not know etiher of those things you mentioned
I have just now stuck my first "abhorts" in a tuppoware on top of mesh wiring separtaing them from the bottom of the plastic, in an open container and placed a fan within a foot from the tuppoware to give a modest air flow, will that be sufficient for the first 24+ hour air dry before the dry dessication procedure?
I was just going off the PF TEK manual (1997) ver batum, so it's quite likely that I've missed out on several key points along the way.

also, the abhorts I mentioned came from samples which showed some contamination, and were moved to a test terriarium (I have another terrarium prepared for the one purely uncontaminated sample in my styrofoam storage unit just in case), is there no chance of these seemingly contaminated samples fruiting?
Each of these mentioned samples have a vast majority of the substrate colonized and seem healthy if not for the lower most parts of the jars used.

Noobs who are successful can become great teachers and, in the future, masters of the hobby. I agree with everything I read and went back to my mistakes. If I had read this post first, perhaps that wouldn't have happened, although one of my rules for newbies is: Will to make mistakes. They will eventually happen. Don't be afraid to start over.
I do think it is important to learn the concept of a fruiting chamber, for example, or of a monotub (e.g. SFGC is a thoroughly perforated box for purposes of constant ventilation and oxygen exchange plus CO2 elimination - correct me if my raw definition is wrong).
This where the reading is essential. When I started 3 weeks ago, it was a curiosity. After joining the group, it became much, much more, and I am thankful for it, and thankful for any advice.
BTW: Reading about hyphal knots now! Had no idea they existed!
-------------------- In Hebrew, the words "wine" and "secret" hold the same numerologic value. When wine comes in, secrets spill out. Do you think the person who said that knew mushrooms? When mushrooms come in... Is there anything beyond a secret?

So far I have been a somewhat successful noob. Reading lots before I take any action. My goat is to ramp up the quantity I am able to cultivate so I look forward to any and all suggestions. Right now, still stuck on BRF cakes via PF tek method. Long learning curve to go.
