why no colonization yet?
    #2218165 - 01/04/04 11:37 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

My friend innoculated a new batch of jars on the 29th of December with a syringe he made from a print that he had made from his last grow. They are in a incubator made from a rubbermade container and a heating pad under neath, all covered with a blanket. He has two thermometers, one on the bottom and one on the top. Bottom reads 83.5 and the top 77-78. There still is no colonization. The strain is B+, should he worry yet? Last time it only took 7 days for growth to start.

Did he let the spores rehydrate? 3 to 6 hours in syringe? if not that could be one part of it, also is there enough moisture in his mix? watch the heat also.

also he followed the same mix as last time: for 12 jars: 6 cups verm, 3 cups BRF, 3 cups water; straight off the shroomry recipe.

If the spores do not germinate and form mycelia, or the mycelia stops growing, it is because the conditions required are not present. It sounds like the heat is correct and, since you alluded to previous grows, I'll assume that you made the substrate correctly. This would lead me to assume that the problem is in the spore print / syringe. Keep incubating, wait another few days, if no growth, try again. Good luck.

dont worry about it... "if you build it they will come" haha i think someone on the board said that before... but yeah man my friend was all upset why he hadn't seen any growth and he got all upset about it but really it will grow so dont worry your setting seems fine. prehaps the worst that can happen is if you dont see growth within a week it might mean that ur jar will colonize mad slugish. another thing is some people usually find b+ to be slower, like my friend who has been waiting a month and a couple days. but if it does happen to be slow then just start new projects (it will make you feel better)thats what my friend did when he first thought he had contams, but in the end it wasnt.

The mycelium will start growing when it's ready...It sometimes takes up to a week for me...I observed that the more spores you put the faster theyll start and faster theyll colonize. I have two jars colonizing now. Only two, cuz by mistake i put like 5cc in each of them hehehe. I made my own syringe for the first time and there was alot of air in it and it kinda fucked up my shooting accuracy ;p . But its all good, theyll take approx 2 weeks from innoculation to fully colonize.

I meant only that a more uniform heat might help. The setup sounds fine, just wait it out or as said before start a new project while you wait. B+ takes time.
