Beer seem's to make me sleepy for the most part unless its stuff like Coors lite or natty. I however enjoy dark beer. stuff like Shock top, Blue moon, Yuengling and some times Amberbock. I used to drink every day. Since I quit my last job iv been more relaxed. Only a about a 6 pack in 3 months!!

Yeah man eating after an M binge is really hard. It takes a lot of effort... But you MUST EAT lest you feel like shit longer. FORCE YOURSELF!!!

Beer can make you sleepy due to the carbs in it
Yeah true. That's probably why you don't ahve to eat when you drink beer. I replaced food with beer for a few weeks before, it works.
you ate no food and survived on beer for a 'few weeks'?

Most of your alcoholics transition over time to really poor food and resort to mainly ingesting alcohol to the point where your body actually learns to survive off that sugar and shit, making one more factor of detox difficult.. usually when you end up in the hospital they pump you full of what they call the 'bananna bag' and have you drink these shots of stuff that flushes the ammonia out of your system.. gives you the toxic shits basically.. and then add the whole benzo thing to keep your gaba from annihilating you... but yeah, at a point your body basically survives off that alcohol, and depriving it of that wrecks and sometimes kills you..

I started drinking as most do, at parties and get togethers in high school.
It was always just social drinking and I wouldn't even consider getting drunk at home by myself but I would drink till I blacked out fairly often.
Shortly after HS I got hooked on opiates for 4 years and I didn't drink at all during that entire time. I just didn't like mixing the two drugs.
As soon as I got clean, I started drinking socially again with my friends and was in my mid 20-s by this time. I would say at least 1-2 times a week we got pretty damn drunk and on weekends blackouts were almost a prerequisite.
Eventually over the next few years most of my close friends moved away and/or started their families and I was left by myself. So, about 2 years ago I started drinking every evening. It got to a point of it being an all day binge if I had nothing to do that day. And all night if I had enough alcohol to keep it going. Basically every second of free time I had I would be drinking liquor, but a lot of beer as well...Anything with alcohol...
Finally I started to notice a couple health problems like high blood pressure as well as just overall feeling like shit constantly. I started tapering off in October of 2015 and shortly after New Year's I was ready to fully quit. That was easily one of the best decisions of my life.
It's now been 9 months since I "quit" and my life has improved dramatically in ever aspect. From work to love to health and everything in between. I couldn't even picture myself blackout drunk again, although it has happened a few times when I slipped up after quitting. That hasn't happened in a few months though.
I don't think I was ever a full blow alcoholic, but I was indeed a functional alcoholic leaning towards just an alcoholic for the last 6 months of heavy drinking. These are all just arbitrary titles though. Thankfully all my withdrawals were pretty easy to deal with since I tapered down beforehand. A lot of lethargy, high BP, the "shakes" for about 2 weeks, and overall boredom with life. If I would've kept increasing my intake though, I could see it getting extremely bad. Just having had a lot of experience with addiction earlier in life helped me realize when my dependence was getting to dangerous levels.
Alcohol just makes me a compulsively bad person. Maybe one day I'll be able to drink socially again without going crazy, and I have, but I really don't see the point. I don't enjoy being drunk anymore and severely regret it the few times it's happened since I "quit". I don't like being preachy at all about this topic, just like to share how alcohol has affected my life so far. Most of my friends to this day can drink socially and even at home without going overboard, but I'm just not built like that.
Alcohol is a hell of a drug...

I think when you work yourself away from it and finally get to that breathing easy point... to trick yourself with 'social' usage just 1 reminds you of the toxic nature with that first drink, but 2 takes you down that same path...gradually. You will fall back into that pattern.. its written in you..you know what I mean? All the, "well, I'll approach it this way, or I'll approach it that way" shit just leads you back to..."there".. drink by drink

There's also that thing where people of either sex sometimes insert alcohol soaked tampons, it's super fucked up - Pretty sure people have actually died doing it.

Absolutely. The few times I let one beer turn into 3...or 15 in the last 9 months, I always tried to find a way to rationalize it. Usually my rationalizations consisted of "I have some extra money, nothing to do, I'm a bit lonely and having some meaningless drunk sex will be fun."
I've been especially lucky with my woman since she's not a big drinker either. The two months that we've been together we've only drank once, several glasses of red wine during a nice dinner which was actually really nice but I did again regret it the following day.
Drinking is nothing but toxicity and I'm just glad it's something I'm aware of. Something that I did where I saw myself in real time degrading in every aspect of my physical and mental being. Even if it did take me a few years of abuse for me to figure this out.

I read about this several months ago. I thought that the article was satire since it sounded so rediculous but I guess people actually do this. Especially in places where they have to hide their drinking like high school.
Do you know anyone personally that has done this?
It just sounds so insane to do this, although I know many people that plug all sorts of different drugs...So who knows?
Have you (or anyone else here) heard about the bar/nightclub in London that pumps alcohol vapor into the air at their establishment? I believe you play a flat fee, and 1 hour of hanging out in the this place is roughly equivalent to 1-2 drinks.
http://www.wired.com/2015/08/brilliant-bar-gets-drunk-alcoholic-cloud/
It may not sound like much, but the concept of this if it catches on could really get some people in a lot of trouble. A lot of people are deterred from drinking because of how it tastes or because of all the calories. When those things don't matter those people are going to start getting fucked up.
What do you guys think about this "alcohol cloud bar"?

Wasnt it Studio 54 where they would dump some kind of drug through the ventilation system? Might be hype, or an urban legend, but I think they actually did that shit on some nights,..or atleast the story goes.

I've only been straight up drunk probably 9 or 10 times, only blacked out twice. I'm really not a fan of being drunk. I can't remember anything and it leaves me feeling like complete shit regardless of how much water I drink. When I do drink, I very rarely drink more than 5 drinks. And I honestly can't comprehend how people can get blackout drunk every single weekend. Guess it goes to show that everyones biochem is different
