What technique for a newbie?

What technique for cultivation do you recommend for a newbie? I'm looking for the easiest method to avoid screwing up, especially concerned about contamination.
Related, are there any varieties that are particularly easier to grow than others?

Most people agree that pf tek is a great method for starters
-------------------- Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, “What road do I take?” The cat asked, “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat, “it really doesn’t matter, does it?”

You should do multiple PF grows before going to a grain spawn. Search the forum and read, read, read. Not just the posts with pics.

Why...grain is literally just as easy To inoculate. you just need a pc and to learn about bulk subs...if your willing to make the investment it's waay more worth your time to bang out a few monos than to be messing with cakes imo.

Just grow cubensis, don't get so hung up on strains. As far as what you should start with, that entirely depends on what you're willing to learn/purchase. If you can't afford a pressure cooker just get started with pf...
Whatever u do, good vibes and good luck

Would advise skipping pf tek and instead suggest using grain in quart jars as spawn, fruiting chamber as monotub and substrate coir/vermiculite. User frankhorrigan has great info, just read each of his most popular threads a few times and go from there.
A pc is only 70$ for a decent one. That's cheap just buy one and a couple dozen quart jars and you're practically half way there going from spore syringe.
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night
