If you cant even spell computer right, I doubt you could even figure out how to hook up a new hard drive. I used to build computers for a living, come back when you learn how to spell and I will be more then happy to answer your question.

This shouldn't matter. As long as there is nothing physically wrong with the computer, of course it will work, it just depends on which OS you are planning on using (due to minimum processor and memory requirements). I wouldn't recommend using much more than Windows 98 unless you can cope with a slow system and errors due to lack of memory. That or you could use linux. Then again, I have seen operating systems like XP put onto 200MHz systems with 128MB mem.

i know that on some real old boxes -- the bios wont take a drive over 5 or was it 10 gigs or something like that.

may be worth checking into.

Most of the time (at least on old versions of award BIOS), it was 8000MB.

if the BIOS is too old, you can always just flash it...the OS is a problem too, if you're running an older OS you're going to have to update it as it wont support a larger hard drive...win 98 is going to be a fat16 or 32 and it will only support a 32 gig hard drive max...unless you split it up into multiple partitions...winxp only supports something like a 120 gig HDD unless you instal service pack one. with a p2 350mhz processor though, i doubt you would ever require anything with over 32 gigs on it...as there's not a lot you can do with a processor that slow.

dobies, check out what sort of motherboard you have. It should say when you boot up your computer, otherwise it should offer a BIOS/configuraiton mode on bootup go and check that. Once you know the motherboard type, look it up on the manufacturer's website. It should have BIOS upgrades listed if there are any, as well as describe what sort of harddrives it supports.
