Yeah buddy! So much more potential with them in the ground, I like to start them in pots but they almost always end up in the ground

I finally live in a zone where I can put some in the ground,I just need to move out of this apartment first
Mine are looking pretty sad,and stretched mainly from lack of proper light
Oh how they need to be in the ground...

Jealous man, wish I could turn mine loose in the ground. Alas until global warming shifts the tropics north a bit its pots for my trichs.

I have the materials finally to build an above ground cactus bed. The soil here is horrendous for anything except opuntias to grow in. I am building a stone above ground planter in the early spring so that I can finally put some of my larger specimens in the ground.
I envy those that can just dig a hole and in the go. My whole backyard would be planted. lol

Right on man, what plant hardiness zone are you in by the way? You could also just bring in a bunch of bags of cheap top soil, and mix in some perlite, and then add that to your native soil too,but you other idea sounds better, keep us posted

I am in zone 9, but only barely. I am around 50-75 miles south of zone 8. I am also still building my greenhouse for the winter. Just have to decide on my floor/foundation.

I'm in zone 9B nearly 10A,and I used to live in 8B,and I know it got downright cold,so you may need a greenhouse over them to grow them successfully in the ground.

Just time and money to do them. I have a bunch of plants I'm already kind of neglecting but they're doing good.

I am building the greenhouse in the next month or two, so that I can overwinter my garden outdoors. We always get a handful of nights that freeze between November and March.

Oh,I got ya man.I think I should be fine leaving mine out in the elements all winter here, well there really is no winter here, but you get the picture
Also, sorry if always sounds like I'm bragging about my grow zone and climate here guys, but when you've spent most of your life living in a freezing cold state where you have to lug all your plants in during the winter, and then sit for five months out of the year stuck indoors depressed, because it's too cold out to garden, fish, hike or enjoy the outdoors in general, you kind of get a big head, because it's all still sinking in that I'll never have to endure any of that misery anymore

Nice collection. Once they get older most will grow into nice looking plants. I especially like the T. peruvianus.
