Brown Coloring on Stems

Looking at some mushrooms that are about to pop veil and a couple have brown areas that kind of look like waves(best way I can describe it) on the bottom of the stem near the substrate that becomes more minimal as they go up the stem and eventually fade away to the normal white of the stem. They go up about a half inch. Never seen it before on mushrooms. Honestly, it looks natural to me but just curious what it is.
No pics.
Anyone have an idea or anyone ever seen this before?
Thanks pals!

Should have added: The brown color is just on the texture of the stem. There is nothing noticeable growing on the stem. The stem just appears to be colored brown a bit.

Hmmmmmm.... I would say it looks more like LocN9ne more. But it looks similar to you bodhisatta pic too.
Some have the vert stripes that I have seen before. But the other stuff looks a bit different.
Lets say it is a bac contam. Then what? Not edible? Will it be ok once its dry? Should I keep that cake going after the pull with another dunk and roll? ps... I am never gonna grow in this spot ever again as we are moving in another month.
Thanks for your help pals!

Looking at it closer I would say that some have the LocN9ne brown and two have the bac contam.

Looks like verticillium in your pic. See how the mushroom is bent to one side and the stem is fucked up? Classic vert. Brown streaks on the stem are a telltale sign too.

I wouldn't be so sure until you do microscopy
A suggestion is to harvest a fruit and put it into a plastic baggie and wait a few days if it becomes over grown with cubensis mycelium great, if it becomes over grown with vert then...

I think vert is becoming the catch-all here for any infection that causes anything brown, whether it be spots or streaks, and ANY kind of cap malformation.
Everyone is saying everything is vert now. Where was all this vert a few years ago?

Looks 100% bacterial to me. I don't see any evidence of anything else. Perhaps lower temps would favor the mushroom over the bacteria.
People like to put names on things, but those names often don't hold up to scrutiny. For example what people like to call Trichoderma often turns out to be Penicillium if you sequence the DNA.
this was in regards to my "Vert" and the results of the micrographs I took.

Without pics, nobody's gonna want to say definitively if you should eat a mushroom. Generally though, yes, just run it through the dehydrator to kill whatever it is first.

So, been reading around a bit. And from what I understand is..... if you dry out the yield they are safe to eat.
1) Do you guys agree?
Also, the cake I am referring to is the last one of the bunch. It was the first flush and was quite a bit bigger flush than any of the other cakes we did. Big full nice mushrooms the size of my index finger(I am a big dude). I know I can flush more off of it and as stated previously... this is our last grow in this spot as we are moving soon.
2) Should I dunk and Roll and give it another go?
Thanks pals!
