Lucid Dreaming

How many of you here lucid dream or have before?
I used to lucid dream nearly every night when I was little (ages 4-15) but now its pretty rare, maybe 3-4 times a year.
Pretty strange to even be able to lucid dream..like what is that?
Just fully conscious in some dream-world which feels, looks, smells, tastes, real? and that is mostly under your control?
sort of sounds like how one would imagine heaven if they believed in such things.

I have been lucid dreaming randomly throughout my life as far as I can remember.
Some lucid dreams I have environmental control others I don't, only personal control.
It always feels so strange to wake up and have the feeling like your almost living 2 lives, one real and one surreal.

i've had dream characters make me lucid by telling me I was dreaming..
I've played real-life nazi zombies in my dream..flying around with bazookas and w/e weapon I could imagine w/ a hoard of zombies attempting to attack me.
I've had philosophical discussions with dream characters which offered perspectives that I had not known (or i guess I did?).
360 vision; flying; fucking; drugs; all of it. all of it is possible and yes you can get high in a lucid dream.
lucid dreams for those who dont believe it, have recently been scientifically verified.
so what is that?
Like, wtf? no wonder there is so much spiritualism with such an ability present throughout human history.

Sweet topic. Dreams have always fascinated me because no matter how crazy, random, or bizarre they may seem upon first glance, if you really dig deep you can almost always make some kind of connection to the dream, usually in the form of symbolism.
An example would be the dream I had last night. Though it was not lucid, it was surreal and made sense. I dreamt I was still living at home with my parents, who I have not lived with for more then seven years as they kicked me out at the age of eighteen.
My dad and I were physically fighting over my drug use, and he told me to get out of his house and never come back. I look outside the window and there is nothing but a barren, icy wasteland. Looked like an Ice Age.
So even though this dream was not a lucid dream, there is still a lot of meaning to it because it was reflecting on our relationship, and how my decisions ultimately lead up to my family kicking me to curb to face the elements and all else on my own. Tough love.
That was not a lucid dream, just an example of how dreams really have meaning if you put all thoughts and experiences into consideration. I have lucid dreamed before, but usually once I realize I am dreaming I wake up.
I own a book on how to teach yourself to lucid dream, just haven't found the time to really dig into it. You have to think, we spend more then half of our lives sleeping. If you could master the art of lucid dreaming the possibilities not only are endless, but maybe you can learn lessons in the dream world that you could not otherwise learn in your waking life.
I'll come back with some more this is a good one.

I've had lucid dreams a few times.
I had a dream that I woke up and my consciousness traveled to my kitchen and I clearly remember knowing that I was a awake in my dream or at least knew I was dreaming. It definitely felt like a real out of body experience.

I dunno. I think I'm naturally inclined as I've been lucid dreaming since I was a little kid. Like, a little kid. As far back as I can remember. I would talk to my parents about it and they would look at me like I was nuts.
Could be because I'm so ADD, I hardly pay attention to anything for very long at a time. Makes sense that my attention in dreams would sort of falter allowing me to become aware that I'm dreaming.
From what I have learned though, there is a sort of balance between becoming too aware and waking up, or forgetting that your dreaming again and slipping back into a subconscious driven dream.
The way gravity feels while dreaming is usually what makes me realize i'm dreaming..or something just so ridiculous and I realize that I must be dreaming.
Nowadays when I have them, its usually my own dream telling me I'm dreaming.

I used to lucid dream a couple of times a week. Havent had the pleasure lately (since june)
Anyway, my best lucid dreams were when i would wake up a couple hours too early, and fall back asleep. everytime that would happen i would think about lucid dreaming 5 minutes later i would be in a lucid dream.
Basically i would be nearly in full control. It was like i was on auto pilot, but i could control most aspects. Normally wake induced lucid dreams i would come to in my bedroom. Jump right through the wall to get outside. to fly id imagine i had wings or something and boom i was flying. Or imagine i could jump really high. Imagine i was in a flying car. Once i flew a car straight upwards into space.
I could never get myself to just fly though. Had to imagine i had some sort of tool.
Also, lucid dream sex. Amazing
Smoked weed in a lucid dream once, was really weird. Everything became a wonderland lol
Now if i just became lucid in the middle of the night, i would repeatedly be zapped back into my body and everything would go black. I would lose concentration and the lucid dream would go away. I would always be lucid dreaming i was in some weird location. Couldnt really control much, id say i was aware i was dreaming but only slightly. Highly prefer WILD lucid dreams ( wake induced).

Lucid dreaming is awesome and scary, I used to actively lucid dream more often than not. Until this weird presence started showing up in my dreams asking me to follow it. Every time that thing showed up I would have memories of the encounter in real life and get absolutely sick to my stomach. It's been years since the presence faded, and I believe it's because I tried to forget about lucid dreaming, recently though I have half assed gotten back into some of the practices that help lucid dreaming occur. Really hope I don't reawaken that presence.

Indeed, the first thing I attempt to do when realizing that I am having a lucid dream is to fly. Never can stay off the ground though. Jumping high but always coming back down.
I don't know how many Aphex Twin fans there are on these boards, though I would assume there would be a lot, but supposedly Richard D. James made the entire Ambient Works Vol. 2 album in his dream world first, then incorporated the sounds he heard into his waking life.
Crazy right?
Made sense to me, how else could a human being come up with that kind of music?
I dream about tidal waves quite frequently, like at least once or twice a month. I have this other book about dream interpretation, and what certain types of dreams could or could not mean.
Interesting yet subjective stuff.

I lucid dream when I take melatonin. It sends me to some other world and I never really sleep well.

whooa
had something similiar happen to me when I was trying to have OOBE..
basically after becoming lucid in a dream, I would sometimes try to bring my awareness to my body (which was paralyzed) and have an out of body experience.
Sometimes your not sure how much of that is a dream though and how much is real.
anyways, one time I just popped right out of my shoulder and then I was dragged around by some shadow entity until I used my lucid dream skills to basically make the entity stop dragging me around. I remember getting like angry at the entity and there was a burst of golden light and it jetted off fast leaving me floating in my downstairs living room.
Then I had all sorts of nightmares that I wasn't able to control, despite knowing I was dreaming..and I sort of just tried to forget about astral projection and all the spiritual voodoo surrounding it.
Seemed like something didnt want me to "go that far"

For me when it gets really scary, such as feeling there is someone at the foot of the bed jostling me around, I just open my eyes. The only thing is I can't move. So I wait. Look. And pray I don't fall into the same shit that I wanted to wake up from.

i've seen portals and ghouls rise from the ground..
seems when I have sleep paralysis, its usually fucking terrifying.
there is usually even a feeling of impending doom.
when it happens I try to ignore it and fall back asleep.

Why is it so scary I ask. I should know it is fake. I hear kids playing and laughter and what not. Thinking why are kids awake at that hour. Only to realize it's completely dark and I'm freaking out.
