I remember a couple 1 or 2 years ago everyone was on the cutting bandwagon. I had several people argue with me about it. Which I don't see any problem with cutting but I'm a twist and pull kind of guy. Always will be. Nobody could accept that then. Shroomery has changed a lot since I've been away. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future people go back to saying colonization should be done in the dark lol. I love this community though not talking shit just making an observation.

I like to use shears to harvest my tubs. I don't use PF mix but mushrooms pluck nicely off of that comparatively.

I'm a big fan of hamloaf's method myself. It works pretty damn well. Not a big fan of cutting the fruits, no idea why

Same guy, different video. Watch from 3:41 he thinks he can shake the shrooms off the cake then ends up ripping a chunk out of the cake out with the shrooms, leaving a crater in the cake.
Discuss.

Just need regular old scissors. They're don't even need to be particularly sharp. What I don't like about using a knife is a lot of times you have hold the mushroom in place near the base in order to cut it without tearing the substrate out in the process. With scissors you just pressed the blades against the substrate to get a low cut so you can stack more in your other hand before they start getting in the way.
As for the stumps I've seen them turn to a sort of jelly that may have some form of rotting but it was only when they stayed wet for too long, like after a soak when when FAE was limited. I've spawned jars with in vitro pins and no top/casing layer several times and not only did the mushroom bits not rot, once the mycelium covered them they were the first places to start pinning.
