Finally bought a telescope * 1
    #22172888 - 09/01/15 08:08 AM (8 years, 5 months ago)

For years I have wanted a telescope to look out into space with and after a lot of research I decided to get an Orion Skyquest XT8. It's supposed to be one of the best beginner scopes to get. I also a 2x barlow, adjustable eyepiece, and a moon filter for better viewing.

People are able to clearly see Jupiter and its moons, Saturn and its rings, and many other amazing things. I am gonna wait for a clear night this week and get familiar with it and try to see some of the planets. Then I'll hopefully be able to see some deeper space objects like nebulae, stars, and maybe even galaxies. I'm so excited!

Rad! I love watching the stars. I went out to the dark desert for the last new moon/ meteor showers. Plan on going out there again for the coming new moon, although I don't believe there will be any meteors.

right on, the other night I was at one of my friend's house and we were looking through his telescope it was pretty fun.

my dad has this huge gnarly one with a computer system on it that u can choose a planet on and the telescope moves itself percetly onto the planet

Theres nothing quite like seeing for yourself the beauty of space. Documentaries cannot match seeing the actual planets, live, in the field.

That sounds way too high tech lol. I bet that put him back a pretty penny.

Yes, with a somewhat decent telescope you can see most planets pretty clear even with light pollution from the city. Although it's best to go to an area with little light pollution. Also, you can do a quick google search and it will show you pictures people have taken from home using their telescope.

Agreed. I have always been fascinated with space which is why I have always wanted a telescope. I can't wait to start seeing these objects and planets with my own eyes
