MORE THAN one of my "Home-made acoustic guitar songs"..
    #2217409 - 01/03/04 10:21 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I wrote this song after the last time I rolled/tripped, because the day after I flipped my girlfriend's jeep onto it's side as I was just a LITTLE too dazed out. Makes for good song writing inspirey.. puts stuff in perspective, so to speak.

The recording kind of sucks, but it is home-made, and I'm not that great, so.

EDIT: P.S. if any bassist want to add a layer and send it back to me, feel free to do so, that would rock.

http://shade.swoo.net/logic_vs_understanding.mp3

Read-a-long lyrics:

Verse

It's kinda funny how things turn round
knock you to the ground
And as they rob you blind you say
hey, at least I've got my health
and I...

Verse 2

I think it's funny how you think you know
what you know you don't
and there's no one left to prove
all of this to

Chorus

So this is what it took, it got to you
you search for something
end up with nothing of use
with a mood that seems so smooth

Breakdown/Verse 3

You trade your logic for understanding
makes no sense to me
You think you're working towards a better ending
but the end's grown near and it looks about the same
or maybe just a bit worse
like falling down, but face first

Chorus 2

So this is what it took to get to you
a search for substance
ends up with nothing of use
all of this for you

I assumed I'd never have to be a-
have to be accomplice to

take a minute to think too soon
Because I'm sure you thought twice
before you gave up and fell through
with a move that seemed so smooth..

bridge

I've got a funny feeling
that I'm right on the nose this time
Just like last time.
Yeah just like last time.

End

You trade your logic for understanding
makes no sense to me
You think you're working towards a better ending
but the end's grown near and it looks about the same
or maybe just a bit worse
like falling down, but face first

that's awesome man! i really like the lyrics, the whole thing could be made into a great full-band song.
Wish I had a bass, I could fill that for ya...
ahh.. more and more people are posting songs of theirs, it's fucking great. Thanks jacques, I really dig it.

Any other musicians out there, post your tunes!

Hey man, nice song. My ear isn't so good (yet, partially why I bought the fretless, so I can develop it), so I can't really come up with anything just by listening to it, but I have my guitarist figuring it out. If you could come up with some tabs, though, since you came up with it, I could definitely see what I can do.
Peace.

Here are the chords for the rhythm guitar parts, something to use as a base so to speak.

Intro/Verses:

C#m, A, E*, G#

Chorus:

A, B, C#m

Breakdown:

E*, A, C#m, B

End:

Same as verse,
C#m, A, E*, G#

Edit: Whoops, P.S. the E* chord is: 079977, I don't know what it's called.

Wow, I'm impressed!
I've got some ideas for a bassline but I can't record into my computer.

Down Again (Investigation #5)
---

This is
your only chance
breaking

down again
into the trance
silently

spinning
your darkest dance
starting

to believe
you always can't
breaking

down again
I'm so glad we thought of this
things don't change they stay the same
things are never gonna change
up and

Chances
are slim at best
starving

to the bone
just like the rest
breaking

down again
I'm so glad we thought of this
things don't change they stay the same
things are never gonna change
up and

down again
the things you do to deal with this
ride's not free you pay with pain
things you say and do don't sway
up and

down again

No lyrics for that one on hand, sorry.

Hey man, sorry I haven't got anything yet, I had limited time last night, but I did sit down with it and try some things out. Today was hell for me, I didn't have a lot of time and I have had a headache, and I was working on a song of our own and the low tuning was really making it impossible... I'm sick of adjusting shit on guitars..

But anyways, tomorrow it appears as if I have a lot of time to myself, so I will pull it back up in Cool Edit and experiment. I'll probably end up recording lots of different ideas, a basic line and some with different stuff added, and will just see what you like and what you don't, and I will change anything at your request if it doesn't sound right. hehe

Anyways, I'm glad I can be of service, hopefully I will get the chance to get something good going for it and get it recorded as soon as possible..
Peace.
