Been diagnosed with cancer - again
    #22171951 - 08/31/15 11:21 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hey guys so yeah its been a wild few months. I was re-diagnosed with testicular cancer a few months ago. About 3 years ago I had surgery to remove one testicle that had 60% seminoma. They determined that there was no spread and just wanted to monitor me for several years afterwards.

A few months ago I got my checkup CT/PET scans and they noticed abnormalities in my retroperitoneal lymph nodes. They are larger than normal and showing increased sugar metabolism which is indicative of recurrent cancer. It is too close to my aorta to do a needle biopsy, so my doc is putting me on chemotherapy starting sometime in the next few weeks.  They are hopeful that I should recover as a result of the treatments, and I am keeping my fingers crossed, though dont want to be too confident to where im not doing everything i can during treatment. I just got married and havent really spent time thinking about this, due to all the wedding planning. We havent told anyone because we wanted the wedding to be free from anxiety about that for everyone. Now I am planning on telling my family, which is very hard. I am scared about all of this, but dont want anyone to be scared for me. I need to figure out how to tell people.

I am also hoping for advice from people, as during chemotherapy I am going to likely get a vaporizor and a medical marijuana card to help maintain an appetite. In the past I have gotten very paranoid on weed, like schizophrenic paranoid, so I am hoping someone can point me to the least paranoid strain possible. I know indica is pretty low intensity, is there a strain among that that might be useable?

Blah I dont know what else to say.... um I know there are tons of people out there who are going through so much worse than what I will be, and I dont want to try and overshadow anyone else with my problems. Just looking for some advice, or maybe open up a conversation with people who have gone through the same in one way or another.

Thanks, and cheers :sun:

wow that's too bad man. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

It's good you've got a spouse to help you out during times like this.
As far as you're intent on MJ, I too get paranoid and almost schizophrenic-like when smoking.  I can say that my mood going into effects much of my mood during it.

If I feel that I'm doing something wrong then that seems to perpetuate itself for a good part of the day after smoking.  I can say that daily use, a couple of times a day drastically takes my paranoia down.  Maybe this will be the same for you. If you need it there's nothing to be paranoid about, so try to think about it this way during use.

Indica is a body buzz and "low" intensity may not be the proper wording, as for me it seems more intense and often become lazy.  I do like it and I do find more of an appetite as well. Sativa is ur other option other than a "hybrid".  I like sativa because it keeps my spirits up and motivates me to keep on going or get something important done.  Hybrid is the other and well it comes with varied effects.  Too much use of any of them will result in lethargic activity or a build-up of tolerance with no affect.

If I were you, I would try both.  Try the sativa dominant in the mornings and don't smoke very much, just enough to keep your spirits up.  Then as the day progresses I would progress into the Indica dominant strains as the day becomes more relaxing.

You may receive different advice, just keep in mind it affects everyone different.  You seem to be more like me, where as many of my friends became very social or others would often go to sleep or sit around watching movies.

I hope I am not out of my bounds here. Forgive me if I am.
I am not a doctor, but I hope I have helped you.

Another note of good advice: stay out of the cold and stay out of the rain.  Take care of yourself.

You can beat this!
Have faith!

you'll get through this. sometimes it's the toughest trials in life that help us grow the most as people. i'm sure you will also find an outpouring of love from the people who care about you most.
as for the medical weed--hindu kush would be a good strain for no paranoia. i get kinda tripped out on weed too and that's the most relaxing strain i've ever had. it's pure indica.

Hybrids are best imo.  Sativa dominant for daytime, indica for night.  As someone who's prone to psychosis, heavy indicas are the ones to avoid.

Sending powerful Rastaman Vibrations your way.

Indicas are your friend, I'd avoid Sativa for now.  Late harvest indicas. Perhaps even low THC strains.

Best wishes stay strong.

Isn't there already a cure for cancer?

Reduce your sugars intake to zero, increase your body's pH levels, start a hemp oil regimen, and microdose cubes. Take no other drugs/medications.

Chemo kills.

ehh i highly disagree on this. when weed amplifies paranoid thoughts its usually pure sativa...i had some pretty sketched out "racing thought" trips on strains like super silver haze and durban poison.

with indicas like hindu kush it's been nothing but just pure relaxation. indicas are way less trippy and way more medically therapeutic in my experience.

not saying i don't like sativas (sometimes i like a good mindfuck lol)...it's just that in the case of the OP, i think indica would be way better for his condition.

You forgot detoxify current toxin build ups:thumbup:
Allows the body a more direct focus on other unwanted issues such as cancers.

Basically detox allows ur natural cell killers enhanced activity towards irregular cell formation such as tumors. Our bodies are constantly removing cancerous like cells all on its own.

Good luck
U got this!

sativas can get pretty overstimulating and anxious for me, but the indicas slow my sense of time down, sometimes so much that i'll start dreaming awake.  i can get deep into spacey delusional & paranoid thought patterns.  with sativas, none of that deep stuff happens, just surface stuff, like anxiety, nervous effects.  but i'm mostly referring to the pure indicas.  something like blueberry, that's 20% sativa, is pretty chill.

I don't know if there is a play in the playbook for this life situation but you'll figure it out.  Thanks for letting us know, it can't be easy.  I would imagine being scared is the natural reaction to this type of news.  I hope this treatment kicks the cancers ass:thumbup:

sorry to hear this bud. I had a scare a few months back so I know the kind of terror that ensues, but it was also a great opportunity for personal growth and sorting out the things that matter in life. I wish you the best brother

Don't lose hope though. There are like a billion photochemicals and supplements that have demonstrated selective tumor killing properties. It's no guarantee but may be worth a look. You might consider an anti-inflammatory styled diet/looking for gut dysbiosis too. I've never read about the effects of the diet on cancer but rogue inflammation is a pretty universal disease promoter. I'm currently on AIP for an autoimmune issue with some decent success so it may help.

Hey everyone. Been a while since ive updated on this. Have been going through chemotherapy, currently taking cisplatin, and etopiside, which are two chemo agents. just finished my second round this week. have approx 2 more rounds until we reassess.

Its fucking hard, and I applaud anyone who has gotten through this. It feels worst right after and then with time and sleep you slowly get past the nausea. have used some high CBD marijuana for the nausea which helps but still gets me in a weird high space, which i dunno.. i dunno whats worse being high or feeling like total shit haha. guess its not that bad. I have talked with other people going through the same thing and they all seem to say to just stay positive.

Its really difficult to keep that mentality going, but I have found it helps. Just trying to focus on the good parts of my life. Football has been really helpful, and has given me a lot to focus my attention on. Just wanted to check in. theres a lot more I could write, but im not really sure what or who it would benefit right now. If you ever come across this thread and are going through something similar please message me and ill fill you in on whatever i can that will help.

Cheers and hopefully see you on the healthier side of all this soon.:sun:

Damn bro I am sorry to hear about this! My brother is over 10 years in remission and it is still a scary thought that it could come back. He too had

testicular cancer and lost a ball. Stay strong and stay away from the sativa strains bro. You can get some indica strains that are high in cbd or just take

some straight cbd oil that doesn't have any psychoactives. Best wishes go out to you and your wife.

yeah my symptoms have been pain at the needle site where i get the iv bags. Gonna ask for a fake vein for treatments 3 & 4, just to spare my veins from any more damage. I might have something called thrombosis (or close to it) as a result of this. Am hoping its not permanent, but right now both my wrists feel sprained

ringing in my ears, called tinitus, and nasuea. worst of all atm is the fucking constipation. I need to shit so bad but am just sitting like a duck on the toilet. Tomorrow if nothing happens I am on a mission for a thanksgiving anema and it will be sweet hehe.

Well back to bed, Cheers everyone and have a wonderful day tomorrow. Enjoy all that delicious Thanksgiving grub

You might check out Phoenix Tears or Rick Simpson oil.  Instead of smoked cannabis or vaped...  You get a higher concentration of THC which smoking or vaping doesn't come close to delivering into your system.  ...From what I understand.
