Yea. Admittedly, i prepped em just like i do rye, just didn't cook as long. I was impressed by how clean they were. I can tell that rye seems to hold more moisture, so dunking grains may be necessary when it comes time to spawn those guys with these thirsty cultures i use.

I know. I'm sorry. Problem is the end of summer provides bottom of the barrel rye berries. It's harvested in the fall. So this time of year, the shit is old and fucked. I returned 600 lbs and got a new batch to replace it and it was fucked as well. Idk with what, but it looked like a yeast type of thing on it. I tried to use it anyways, but all my jars stalled. So for the next month or 2, i need a backup plan. Don't worry though, you'll never see me fucking a bucket.

IME oats hold a tone of moisture compared to other grains. You probably could have boiled longer or loaded them wetter. I actually like to see a few of my oats burst before I call them hydrated. The husks keep them from clumping even when every single grain bursts.
