My agar grew baby shrooms should I clone?
    #22171593 - 08/31/15 10:08 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

So I was going threw my old agars and boom a group or Lil shrooms. Would plucking these and transfer to new agar will it be a good way to get closer to mono strain? Would it have stronger genetics? Or would it be the same as just getting some myc off the agar and not the shroomery itself or would it be weak genetics cuz it was grown in such weak conditions on agar.

I was under the impression if you clone from that it will be an isolated culture.

It might be, but thats very rare....

Usually there are a bunch of genetics still, just a lot less...

And these genetics are pretty much guaranteed to fruit....

You can isolate further, but the culture might perform better with a bunch of genetics....you really can't tell unless you grow them out.

I wouldn't clone the mushrooms. But I would start a new dish from the mycelium directly under the mushrooms. Then use that new dish to go to grain. Basically clean it up a little

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
