Clone mushrooms
    #22171287 - 08/31/15 09:10 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Can the climate environment mushrooms growing in affect the growing process when i grow it in a different environment. Im living in Thailand and buying Phoenix oyster mycelium from local vendors. They cloning from there own mushrooms they make, but the way they grow mushrooms is different i do. They grow mushrooms in sheds made of wood, banana leaves on the roof and covered with shade nets. In this sheds the most of the time its really hot ,23-35 degrees, and nearly no airflow and often to low humidity. But my growing room is climate controlled on 23-24 degrees Celsius, 85-98 humidity and with an airflow of 2400 cfm flowing through ducting spread in the room. The room size is 4 meter by 13 meter and 3 meter high. My mushrooms not growing well and the local farmers think the mushrooms affected by the massive airflow my room have. Is this possible?

If yes, will it help to give this local vendors one of my best oyster mushrooms grown in the climate environment of my room to use for my next mycelium orders?

The climate -definitely- affects everything about how mushrooms form. 85-95% RH sounds about right. It could be the massive fresh air exchange that is pulling moisture from your substrate. Either that or your substrate was a bit dry to begin with.

My advice would be to try to slow down the airflow and/or raise humidity as much as possible. Also, you should just clone your own mushrooms and cut out the vendor. Much cheaper that way and you get to pick out the best genetics instead of relying on someone else to make that decision for you.

I hope your grow turns out well and hopefully my advice points you in the right direction.- Good Vibes Your Way--->:mushroom2:

Thank for your replay. The 2400 cfm airflow is not only fresh air but fresh air mixed with return air of the air handling unit i use. This size of air handling unit is exactly the same size mushroom climate control company's from my home country (The Netherlands) would supply me, and the fan have only one fan speed. But will a cloned mushroom from my growing room perform better in my room then a cloned mushroom from the sheds they growing?

You would still be using the same genetics if you cloned your fruit vs there's. It's possible the isolate they use has been found to grow well in there climates and your tightly controlled grow chamber isnt the same. Have you been cold shocking to induce pinset?  If the isolate isn't working well for you maybe look into another isolate or species.

the genetics will be the same no matter what mushroom you clone, so don't waste your time with that.  buy some spawn from mycelia.be , I almost guarantee that their strains will preform much better.  And think about switching to a blue oyster since your temperature is so low.
