Georgia ID request
    #22170948 - 08/31/15 07:54 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hey, everyone.  I found a mushroom growing in my front yard today.  No grass, just very fertile soil.  There are trees all around my yard, so almost no sunlight gets through.  it just rained pretty hard yesterday, and lightly rained today.  I live in NW Georgia, in the corner of Bartow, Cherokee, and Cobb counties.  If it helps, it was not on pine needles, but it was only about 10 feet from a pine tree, as I've heard weilii can grow on pine needles.  I've looked throughout these forum as well ass the far reaches of the internet, but could not find anything that closely resembled these.  It had a chocolate brown spore print.  Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated.

From what I'm reading, Inocybe sp. is likely toxic.  Am I correct on that?  Also, I don't know if it helps, but the stem was almost pure white.

Yes, stay away from Inocybe sp., they're not worth messing with.

Very few are psychoactive, and many are poisonous.

That's good to know.  Thank you so much.  My dog spends time in the area, so I'll keep a good eye out to make sure they're gone before he goes over there.
