Wes sat at his desk and opened up YouTube. He mumbles a few words into an unseen ear and the websites page rapidly began changing shape to display several small pictures, aligned in a grid, with text above and below each. He clicks on the second picture on the top row and begins shaking his M2 nutritional blend.

*sound fades in on video*
<Announcer 1>
"...can you believe this? I mean they've already slashed our education budgets in half, and now they want to suck MedicAide dry? All so we can essentially NASA shoot more junk into space. What are your thoughts on this Rory, I know you were at the press conference personally earlier today, tell us a little bit about what you heard"

<Announcer 2>
" well as you may know John, NASA is not necessarily relying on this money from the United States Government, there have been talks with other big-pocket firms to get this project off the ground, but I think one way or another they are going to meet their projected investments for the year. We've talked about this earlier, this money has returns on it, we're no longer trying to send a drone to Mars to dig and send samples, were harvesting the Martian soil. I think that's important to remember, this is industry, this is what we've needed for decades John."

<Announcer 1>
"So you're saying the U.S. Should jump on this opportunity, correct? Even though it's not yet been proven that they will be able to harvest enough to make a return on the investment, you think the gold is there waiting. "

<Announcer 2>
"I absolutely do. Elon Musk from Tesla pointed out last week: the amount of soil we have sampled in pounds is miniscule when you consider the fact that we've discovered this gold deposit. If we already found it with our Percival 2 rover, you can be sure it's elsewhere on the red planet. That rover has only been sampling data on the ground for about 16 months now. To find a resource so rare here on Earth that quickly is astounding."

<Announcer 1>
"Interesting, so its possible this can cause large ripples in our current economic structure. Wall Street is on "Holiday", which we don't see happen very often - but my point is, what is everyone waiting for? Should we not pour out money into this..."

Wes turns the volume down to a near mute as his boss walks by the cubicle, until he can barely make out a soft murmur of digital video chatter. He lets out a sigh and stares hard at his screen, hoping to both look and become busy simultaneously while attempting neither. It's Monday, and Wes knows better than to start the week off too motivated. The more he gets done at the firm this week, the more responsibilities Wayne will assign him. He lives daily with this ever-present disease that plagues many among him, laziness. Apathy.

His medication is starting to fade and the ever-present hum of the buildings compact fluorescent lights is begining to get under his skin. Reaching into his jacket, he realizes he forgot to bring his afternoon dose, he lets out another sigh and cups his forehead; it's going to be one of those days. He starts to get itchy, his right eye feels as if it's on the verge of a slight spasm.

Just as he thinks Wayne has cleared the area he gestures two fingers in a sliding motion on his desk to restore volume to the YouTube video.

<Announcer 1> I will state again this is exciting news, and we now have several confirmations from NASA themselves that this gold-like mineral has been tested thoroughly and has performed as expected. Despite its odd initial pigmentation, it appears to be composed almost entirely of element 79.

<Announcer 2> what we have here is evidence that our predictions were correct. There is in fact gold on Mars. We don't know how much of it is there, but it does exist on the planet.

"Working hard I see." Wayne says as he rounds the corner and catches Wes by complete surprise.

More coming.
