Yeah lemme read the thread title, I'm completely unfamiliar with it

To be the "best rock band" of say 1995, is it a requirement that the band only existed in that year, or that it not also be the "best rock band" of some other year as well? No, of course not.
On that example, I'd just say that the majority of the band's success, or their best album, would have had to occur in 1995.

IMO that's an odd way to define your terms. To be the best band of 1995, a band:
- needs to have existed in 1995 - needs to have made music in 1995 that was "better" by some metric than all the other music made in 1995.
1995 being their best year is a different matter entirely.
If Lance Armstrong was the best cyclist in the Tour de France one year, does that imply that he was not the best cyclist in the Tour de France in some other year, or that it was his best year in the Tour de France? No, it implies only that he was better than the other competitors that year.

Tyler was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar. Along with deftones - my own summer (shove it) and greenday - brain stew. Those were all beginner level songs.

Weezer is good.
What about Weezer? I like Weezer.
I suppose that isn't really rock, but it can be to some.
Okay here is my list in no particular order:
1.Tool 2.Deftones 3.Smashing Pumpkins 4.Nirvana 5.Radiohead
We should do a top ten, that was hard.
