actives in ga/sc/nc

i live in upstate sc. i can throw a rock to ga, and im 20 min from nc. my question being that ga has many more actives then sc, so why wouldnt i be able to find them in sc.?

when i lived in charleston we had no trouble finding them.

I just got back from looking at a couple of fields but no luck hell there weren't too many mushrooms even in the field itself but tons in my yard. This was my first time but I didn't have permission to be there but I still searched some of the field but nada
