I was thinking about trying to start some erythoxylum coca var coca to give the novos some cousins, however I think that's a much bigger risk trying to source in the states, isn't it? Or is it the same risk?

I guess it depends on where they are coming from.... inside or outside the US....  I imagine they are going to much more difficult to even find than novo, although I've never actually searched myself...

Anyone know what novo sprouts look like when not given enough relative humidity?

i'd imagine withered for a very short while, then they'd die quickly. I removed the dome as advised on mine shortly after the seed coat fell off, and it's pretty dry in here - although I am one who mists a lot.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I wouldn't imagine sprouts lasting too long outside of their humidity requirements.

What does it look like? I stopped misting mine so much and the leaf tips started looking better.

I'm with dil8. I can't imagine them lasting long at all without enough humidity. Once they get bigger, they take lower (room average) humidity...  Got any pics???  Anytime I've ever seen leaf curl on a young seedling, they didn't last long...

I'll snap a pic tomorrow they've been around for over a month like this. Still growing but the new leaves curl after unfolding.

Planted 8/3 sprouted 8/30~

Any clue what could be causing the curl? I have seen some gnat movement so I'm letting the soil dry a little and I've ordered an essential oil mix that'll keep em out.

I think it is due to low humidity but don't increase humidity though. The new leaves will be 'normal' at least that is the case with mine.

:whathesaid:
I think it's just trying to get used to the humidity. I think, anyway. This one still throws a random curled leaf from time to time

Beautiful plant right there. I wouldn't be worried about that little curl either.
