The other two are doing well. One of them looks like something ate the very end of the tiny first leaves. I discovered this just after I sprayed them (and the soil) with Capitan Jacks Deadbug given to me by a friend. I saw some gnats and tiny earwigs (looked like fast little worms), and since these are inside I can't have any bugs or anything. Didn't seem to hurt the plants, and killed everything visible.

I've also started bringing the ph of my tapwater down with apple cider vinegar and watering them with sprays of it. My baby Sally plant seems to like it, and the novos don't seem to hate it...

If you are able, you might want to try to collect some rainwater as well, I try to water all my sallies, novos, and carnivorous plants with only rainwater when I can help it. Set a bucket out under a spot where a lot of water drains - or if you are able, reroute your gutters into a big collection drum.

Here's mine from a year or two ago. It's still going strong. A 30 minute shower will fill this thing to the brim from empty and 55 gal is a TON of water -

When I was saying it looked like something ate the very tip of the leaves, this is what I was talking about. As the plant is getting a little bigger the very end looks brown.

When the sun comes out I'll see if I can get a higher resolution shot.

I guess I can collect rainwater, it's what I did during germination. I stopped using it because it plugged up my spray bottles, which would be solved by filtering it which I am more than capable of. Unfortunately even collecting rainwater has to be somewhat stealthy around here, because we have crazy ass Mosquitos. So many Mosquitos in fact that we get fined for standing water, and the ENTIRE town gets sprayed weekly by a truck with walkers next to it.

looks like a little damage from where the seed coat was shed. in some places it is illegal to gather rainwater.
Also, earwigs are good bugs. They eat other bad bugs. Capt. Jacks Deadbug brew is a life saver.

Awesome that the odd ends of the leaves aren't from bugs!

Good bugs and bad bugs both fall under the same category inside of the house... Can't have either of them. Some of these were so small that I'm not sure what they were. But I can't have em. Got to have clean, nice looking pots and soil, with healthy plants and nothing creepy crawly, or this grow is a no go.

#2 is straightening out...  Thank god.
The seed cover is taking forever to come off though - in comparison to the other two.

Nice.

What are you using as a humidity dome for that one?

I was using a bottle, however I was organizing my glass and came across a glass cylinder. I started using that a while ago covered with some Sywran wrap (spelling?). It looked better.

I took it off today because #2 finally shed her seed coat!!!

If you remember, #1 had the tips of the leaves looking funny, and I'm realizing that whatever that was, also effected the sprouting stem node that was coming up between the leaves. Apparently whatever this is, "topped" my plant. It seems to be still growing albeit much slower than her counterparts.

I saw this happen with marijuana one time, where a bunny came up and ate it right there. All the surrounding plants got to 2 feet and then the injured one grew two from that spot just like if it were topped later in development. Hopefully this novo does the same (or just grows normal)

Here is how they're coming along (by number of which they came up from the dirt):

Number 1, who has had some problems with the tips of her leaves looking like they were possibly chewed by bugs, or as someone else pointed out, damaged during the shed of her seed coat. She is growing slower than the others, and also appears slightly more yellow than them too:

Number 2, who took FOREVER to shed her seed coat, and her stem had to bend back and forth struggling with it. She may need some stability help to stand up later in development - time will tell. I've pushed a half centimeter of dirt around her to grab onto and put a fan on high 18 hours a day, 5 feet from her (and the other two) in order to strengthen the stem.

Number 3 which is the the most recent addition, is in the largest pot, and is bigger and growing faster than her sisters. She hasn't had to deal with any gnats, pests, or seed coat issues. This one is 1.5weeks younger than the other two.

Does it usually take that long to germinate?

That's not uncommon. Depends how you receive them. If they still have the fruit on the berry, they might take even longer...

#1 seems to be starting to recover nicely. She is starting on her second set of leaves.

#2 has already sprouted her leaves, and is developing them

#3 Is starting on her THIRD set, already!

My bushes are producing berries so I plant a few. You want to turn them constantly away from the light or they grow way over to one side and never straighten up. I have one seedling that is decent size, the others are smaller. The parent bushes are much larger of course, I keep them outside.

Thanks so much for the advice, I'll do that. Ive also got a fan on them the majority of each day. Unfortunately I won't be able to place them outside anytime soon because I live inbetween zone 5 and 6.

:whathesaid:

I neglected this chore for a week or two and it put a permanent lean on it. It had to be staked to train it back straight.

Hey stonehenge, do yours put on berries pretty much all year? Or is it just one wave of them? I'm guessing it's pretty much all year while it is warm..?

Also, I know you have a nice warm climate, do you ever have to bring them inside/put em in a greenhouse?

Yeah, I bring them in when its cold. I put them under a mh light, they don't need a ton of light. Mine produce berries most of the year. They will be cutting back on berries soon, then I might only send out seedlings.
