tahoe, all you do is add a drop or two of red good coloring to your agar/water/nutrient when you combine it. It's simple.

Okay. So it's not some fancy pants agar. Do is there a purpose besides being cool?

I use different colors to color-code the agar. My hot pink plates are all antibiotic agar, while my blue plates are the standard pasty plate recipe, and I haven't yet decided on a color for the spore germination recipe.

Bulk jar grows can do just fine gonna given the surface area.

Just casing grain jars is not as ideal but, I have found it to work well for grains that are suspected to be bacterial. Instead of mold showing up when you spawn, you still pull an oz over two flushes. Better than nothing.

Surface area has fuck all to do with yeild anyway. It really only affects fruit size. I get way better yeilds from bottle subs than I do from the same amount of substrate in a mono tub.

I've had it a few times. Looks pretty cool, doesn't it?

I've had it.

I was thinking about doing this myself, been rocking all red plates and almost got some mixed up before I labeled them

I ran a bunch of different colors before settling with purple. Everything else was annoying as fuck to see bacteria or other contams. Red is good too. I had ninja turtle agar that was absolutely fucking horrendous for anything other then being the same color as a sewer dwelling city turtle.

I have yet to add food coloring to my agar. I pour my agar super thin so that I can see the culture through the bottom of the pasty plate. I'm afraid if I add any dye to it, it will make it more difficult to see through the bottom. Anyone have any experience with this?

Man those fruits are impressive! I've tried PE a few times now with your bottle Tek and can only get blobs or extremely small, like 1" fruits. And the same culture produced great fruits in a mini-mono so it's not shitty genetics.
I wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Yup, if that's your goal don't dye. No point really at that point.

The potato flakes can make it harder to see through the dish when using "dyed" agar.
Ive transferred bacteria on accident thinking the cuture was clean, but little did I know bacteria was under the culture.. I couldnt see through the agar media so it made it practically impossible to detect.
I rarely use P. Flakes anymore be cause of this... Now its straw/grain soak water.. 50ml soak -> 200ml water...
My dishes are beautiful now. They honestly look like stained glass, crystal clear.

This soooo much. I had APE that had bacteria underneath it all, contamed after the first flush, every bin and I went back to the culture and found the problem. Annoying AF. I'm getting into MEA 'cause yeah, the flakes can get pretty annoying.
Also the condensation in my pasty plates is pretty bad, anyone know how to deal with this? I can barely fking see.
