Using Vermiculite only casing for ATL?

Hey guys! Been a while since I posted here, but have still kept growing! It's been time now for a while to fruit some ATL, but I haven't yet made the casing. Also, I am going to be fruiting open air on a windowsill.
Would a Vermiculite only casing work well for for ATL fruits? Or could I just use some soil as a casing(or add verm to this)? You only want 1/4 inch layer no?

I think a straight peat casing might be the best.
Check out cronicr's open air grows, he'd probably have the best suggestions on a casing that will stay moist in open air the longest.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

I'm being serious, Achillita
Why would you suggest straight peat? It'll dry far faster... Esp. not being enriched with vermiculite.

Blindingleaf's peat thread. Sounds like he's much more experienced with straight peat than most people on here.

6. Adding the rest of the mix. A traditional casing mix for cubensis would be 50% peat, and 50% verm with a buffer. After trying that for a while, i ended up liking a high ratio of peat. Verm may hold more water than peat up front, but IME, peat is able to RETAIN it for longer. When I think about casing ingredients, i think that water retention is a top priority. It doesn't matter to me if verm can hold 3x more water than peat if it loses it 3x faster. Maybe others have had different experiences with it, but that is my 2 cents on it.
