It's super easy.
Y dehydrator broke recently and I went back to desiccant.

Fan dry for 24-72 hours, just place on a rack so air is pulled away from the shrooms. If it blows over the shrooms they get linty...

Take a sock and a qt jar lid. Put damprid in the toes of the sock and then put the lid inside as well.
Place the ring so it is holding the damprid incthe toes with the lid centered pretty close above it.
Then place ring around the outside of the sock, so you sock toes are going to be inside that jar with the damprid and the ankle of the sock will be floating on top of the lid.

After the specified period of time under fan conditions you will place into the jar.

After another day or 2 they are crcker dry.

If you are Drying alot of mushros this way you will need to change the sock and damprid

You can save the damprid, and dry the sock to be sustainable, which is always a bonus. Just do your research.

Have a good one.

I've been on a mad search for the perfect during chambe. I'll be using damprid for the agent.
I'm well aware that the chamber needs at least two racks
1 for the desiccant to sit off the bottom to drip water.
2 or more racks above desiccant for the mushies to sit on

My big question is does the chamber need to be completely sealed (air tight) or does it need air exchange or flow?
Thanks in advance for any input. Pics would also be awesome if you guys have any.

fan dry for a few days

why not space?
It's cheap and easy for drying bulk. How many dehydrators would one need to dry 5 pounds of shrooms at once? :hehehe:

you know why. 2 days of fanning is twice as long as it should take to get them cracker dry.
how big damprid chamber wouldnt you need for that? rather build that big a dehydrator, plenty of ways to DIY!

Did you see where the one guy took a dresser and cut a hole on top? He then put a fan on top of the dresser to circulate air into the dresser. Each dresser shelf was modified with screen shelving. hahahaha

I just have 1 dehydrator. :sun:

Why when you could call it the dehydresser?

Ignore all suggestions for fan & desiccant drying. Dehydrator drying FTW. I have a 1000 watt nesco with 30 trays. I also have a 2nd unit, just in case. A friend is borrowing it right now for drying shit for teas.

The longer your fruits stay moist before you get them cracker dry the more potential potency loss you are subjecting the fruits too. So the difference is not just time & money. Especially if someone is trying to desiccant dry only, because that can be so slow the fruits can begin to rot and smell funky before they get fully dry, potentially causing more stomach discomfort when eaten as well.

wtf bd? there's plenty of reasons to cut fruits off the sub besides not wanting sub on their fruits.

on the other hand there are no good reasons to waste 2 days fan drying cubensis.
