Interesting Fact about Cats

Adult cats only meow to people to communicate, while kittens meow to their mothers.

Pretty interesting no?

That is a really interesting article.
The fact that adult cats developed meowing for humans is very fascinating and I wonder how much of that reflects upon the relationship between cats and people (ie the fact that cats meow is because they view their owners as caretakers) or just because that is the easiest way for them to communicate.
I don't currently have a cat and my last kitty I let my ex-gf keep but I could easily interpret his meows and we would frequently have conversations back and forth.
Cats are the bee's knees.

My oldest cat doesn't meow, he screams at me. One word for everything. Out: raaaar. Hungry: raaaar. Tired: raaaar.
My youngest meows syllables. Out: ma-maw. Play: mr-mraow. Hungry: mmm-mew.

My cats talk to each other but it is never friendly. They don't fight but sometimes one is not in the mood for fucking around so they will say something. They also talk to me to varying degrees. Lola is made of noise, she talks all the time. Roy calls for me to chase him. Frankie is the biggest but has the tiniest voice and just wants me to pet him.
Lola is yelling right now. And yes she got what she wanted. Lola gets what Lola wants.

I love my pooch more than most people. He is far from a pain in the ass (excellently trained), and isn't very high maintenance at all.

How many times a day do you have to walk him and do you bring a little plastic bag so you can pick up his shit? That is the reality for dog owners around here. If you say he is free range than you could also have free range cats. Dogs are more work than cats. It is a stone cold fact.

I had a cat who use to stare at nothing and it was fucking weird. Like he would focus on an invisible point in the room and just stair and follow it. I had checked for bugs and shit but nothing. He was a persian and his eyes crossed in opposite directions. You'd just see him sit there and watch the point follow it, then his eyes would un focus and go where the pleased. then hed do it over and over. He also couldn't chew dry food. had to drink water from the faucet.

CAT FACT- A cat has five toes on his front paws, and four on the back, unless it’s a polydactyl. Polydactyl cats are also referred to as “Hemingway cats” because the author was so fond of them

Hemingway cats have 6 toes on their feet. And Hemingway's fondness for the kitties is proof postive a guy owning a cat is somehow effeminate. Hemingway was a man's man.

You know what's cool. Cavemen talked just like how cats do now and now I have a cool alien idea that just came to my mind.
If cats only meow to us and that probably only started to happen after humans and cats started to coexist, does this mean cavemen began to coexist with something else and that's how we developed a language where we don't have to just point and make facial expressions? That something else stayed with us until we were able to create advanced civilizations with hieroglyphics and worship that sometimes point to aliens. Oral traditions were passed down after the aliens gave us a language which we later on realized we could put into a written language. Among these oral traditions passed down there are a bunch of mentions of these higher being(s) that gave them everything. That's why we have all of these hieroglyphics that look all alien and shit.
This can all just be a really stupid theory that completely violates a bunch of science and history but I dunno it's cool to speculate how we evolved like no other species.
-------------------- Do not let psychedelics allow you to think lower of people who haven't done them or don't plan on doing them because "they don't know the truth". Let your enlightenment acknowledge that everyone is equal and that no one is inferior. This mentality goes against what they are meant for. By the way, everything typed on this account is completely fictional and all for the purpose of entertainment.

Here's a post from someone whose yard is completely rampant with dog shit.
All animals require a ton of attention. I walk my cat twice a day, just so she's stimulated every once in a while.

So you walk your dog whenever he wants to shit, or you spend time every week cleaning what is essentially, an excessively large litter box, then?
Yeah, much lower maintenance than a cat!

Like, seriously, how in the hell does a dog even come close to being more needy than a cat?

Well first of all, they are far more socially intelligent (yeah, I said it), which probably means they are more socially dependent... (dogs are fuggin needy, dude)
But I had just meant that if he shits in the yard, that's essentially a MUCH bigger litter box than what my cat uses. Cleaning that would suck. If I were really bothered by cleaning the box, I'd install a cat-door and stop caring too.

Maybe he shits in the neighbors yard, maybe I mulch it with the lawn-mower, I just never encounter it
Unlike this fuckin' cat. I'm gonna have to teach it to use the toilet or somethin' He's also a gassy little fucker that never quits farting.
This fuckin' cat is one of the neediest creature I've ever come across. If I'm gone for more than 20 minutes, he's crying like a fucking baby. On several occasions, my grandmother's called me to tell me that she could here him from her house It's ridiculous, dude! It's like having a toddler for a roommate.

LOL! I yield! Cats ARE needier. I take pride in scooping my cat's shit. Her diet is important to me, so I like to see her poop and be in tune with her poop schedule. Mostly so I can bust my roommates for feeding her unhealthy shit.
Sounds like it might be better as an outdoor cat. Is that feasible where you live? It's definitely under stimulated (toys, other animals to interact with, and stuff). That's probably not your fault, though, you just got a bunk ass cat

Dude, I've thought about throwin' the little fucker outside a thousand times, but I just wouldn't feel right about it. There's really only two situations that would happen if I put him outside.
A). The dogs/some other critter eats him
B). He turns into one of those half-wild yard cats
Neither of those sound pleasant.
This is my first cat. My little brother always had them growin' up, but this is the first one I've took care of. I love him to death, but he's a little fucker. He's always fuckin' with shit and he constantly seeks out, and attempts to destroy, whatever drugs I have
I'm pretty sure you're right about him being under-stimulated, because he's always fuckin' with somethin'. It's kinda funny, because I went out and bought all these toys when I got him, yet he'd rather play with my phone charger or an empty sandwich bag

You wanna talk about high maintenance pets? I have a parrot and a sugar glider! They require quite a bit of attention and varied diets.
Cat's are pretty easy, especially outdoor cats. Whenever I lived with my grandma and dad, we had outdoor cats that my grandma loves taking care of. And she still does. Currently she has 3-4 cats still there. One(there was actually two, but one died while I was nursing them back to health) of them I found abandoned and being nearly killed by a dog reaching out behind a fence. They were shivering and it was about to rain. I saved them, and nursed them back to health.
Cat's are pretty easy once they are grown. I do have a friend who's cat is so freaking difficult. He won't eat sometimes so he has to feed him by hand, and he just loves to vomit all over his house. He's a purebred(something, can't really remmeber the name), maybe that's related in some way
I've only ever owned mutt cats.

One of my grandma's yard cat's is the most loving cat in the whole freaking world. My buddy gave her to me when she was young but past a kitten. My grandma took her because I couldn't, and holy crap she is so sweet.
She'll walk up to strangers walking and let them pet her. If you even walk outside the house, she'll run to the door and want as much attention as freaking possible.

Same issue. My Mina gets bored of toys REALLY quickly too. I often wonder if it's fair to keep her locked up inside, with this synthetic environment, but I've resolved to the leash thing. I live next to a very major road and being that she's been inside all her life, she would NOT survive out there. Alas, she just lies around all the time. It's kinda sad.
That said, if your cat's old enough and was raised inside, he won't really become too feral. Usually they don't go far either. If he does avoid people, it'll only be when he's outside (my mom had a lot of indoor/outdoor cats). Maybe an enclosed space would work?
Have you thought about getting another cat her age? It's not always the right solution, but she needs stimulation.

sugar gliders are insanely difficult! My buddy had a pair of them and often had to carry them around in a sling everywhere, just to get them socialized.
And the cat that lives two houses over from me is exactly like that. Cars pass by, he's just layin' on the driveway watchin' them. People walk past, it beelines straight to 'em looking for love.

You have a very strange cat. I have 3 and all I have to do is give them food water and scoop the box twice a week. My house has 3 stories so they get plenty of exercise inside. Occasionally Frankie and Roy will take a little stroll on the deck and sniff around but they don't stay long and they don't try to run away ever. They are easy as shit. I had a giant poodle once. He was a clown but much more work than 3 cats.

CAT FACT-
Cats have free-floating clavicle bones that attach their shoulders to their forelimbs, which allows them to squeeze through very small spaces.

Oh no, Murray was a total pisser. He was delightful and everybody loved him. He would just occasionally escape and toy with you until he wanted to be caught. He was free range and spent his last years after the divorce with an older couple up the street who he used to visit on his escapes. They loved him to death.
In re poodles. The little ones are inbred shits. The Standards not so much. They are smart as fuck and were bred to be hunting dogs. They don't shed but you do have to take care to clip them, espescially their ears which can get overgrown in short order. Murray could put his front paws on my shoulders and look me in the eye and I aint pocket size like Pris.

i find i like both cats and dogs, but more cats than dogs.
Dogs seem too in-your-face dependent on people while cats are more "lone wolf" independent animals most the time (except feeding time).
Also, i have misophonia, and hearing a dog bark over and over is really annoying.
Cat meows arent as annoying, but of course can be if they keep doing it. But usually it doesnt bother me.
A barking dog thou....no thanks.

Misophonia? That's the first time I've heard of that! Have you ever seen the movie noise?
You should go on a psychotic rampage, like that. Fuck city-living!
...Yup, that's the extent of my exposure...
Notice the cat at 1:48?
