Pachanoi scopulicola or hybrid id?

Hey everyone I've bought a new cactus which I was rather drawn to, it's a little banged up but with some good old love and caring I'm sure it could be a beauty!! Just wondering what species it is? Only have the one photo so far so if more are needed I can put some up in a week or so...

I would take some closer up ones but looks pachanoid to me, so hard to tell with the amount of species diversity though

It's a rather standard T.pachanoi, in my eyes.

Yeah, if that was purchased in the US I'd wager it was standard PC pachanoi. Nice clean specimen though. Good find.

Actually it's in Australia, I was told it was maybe a PC or "Super Pedro" which is supposed to be a Trichocereus Scopulicola x Trichocereus Pachanoi hybrid but as I'm new to all this cactus business I have no clue how to differentiate between the two haha and cheers P.Zappatecorum, I'm pretty happy with it, hopefully take some cuttings next year sometime and spread the goodness around

It's probably PC then, but I'm not one to poo poo them. They're good looking plants and my hands down favorite root stock for grafting ariocarpus, lophophora and other small globular cacti, even if they're not much use as an entheogen. Enjoy your cactus.

Yea I'm not all that fussed with using it as an entheogen, if that day ever comes I've got some bridgesii seedlings kicking off, I just like the look of it and know they are a quicker grower which is pretty cool. Will have plenty of fun with I'm presuming and hopefully update with plenty of cuttings down the track haha

Wait till it flowers before you decide its a PC since u are in Australia... We have alot of hybridization down under.

PC Pachanoi flowers have white hairs, Pachanoi has black hairs. Its the only guaranteed identifier.
