Never saw you as the goalie type,
I gave up on felt a long time ago, Ill give them another shot though.. Although, Prismacolors/crayon pencils are great for range/blending..
My bestF draws aswell, & her specialty/love is Prismacolors. She is currently attending the art institute for illustration & graphic design. Here's some of her work...

Hyperrealism is very cool but I wasn't allowed to do it in school very often. Nice pencil crayons tho, maybe I'll give em a try again. Least they won't dry out.

Poor market for hyper realism. Every rep or agency I ever applied to all stipulated not to waste their time with a hyper realism portfolio.

Damn, that sucks. This makes me wonder though, when you get a spore dump that is localized like this, does the entire mycelium network receive the signal to die, or is it just the part under the spore dump get the message which then spreads to the rest?
In other words, can you still make a transfer from the opposite side of that plate?
