We'll wait for the more experienced users to chime in but personally, I would leave it as is until I returned, then case and fruit.

..... By time he got back the casing layer would be completely, if not mostly colonized. Which defeats the purpose of casing..

if you're gone from sunday - thursday I'd still just throw a thin casing layer on top and fruit right away. nothign will happen before you're home anyway. can just let it sit too, doesnt look 100% yet and may not be until you leave..

No, I'd only do that if its 100%. if not let it sit until you're home. 0,25" is perfect, if you're using left ove cvg from the bucket you can do it a little thicker too, getting it to 1/4" can be kinda hard, and measurements arent always that exact anyway.
but yeah long rant short yeah aim for 0,25"

Yes that tub could use an extra couple of days. How long are you gonna be away?

Your sub is coir right? I wouldn't even sweat that little bit of weakly colonized coir at the edge, the rest looks healthy and strong. The uncolonized/weakly colonized coir ain't gonna contam so just case with a 1/4" -3/8" inch more coir, put into fruiting and it might have pins when you get back.

I think those bits of coir on top are very fluffy and light, didn't have a piece of grain that nearby, and get lifted up as the mycellium grows under them instead of colonized. IDK. Casing always colonized ontop of them.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

He used brf and if you zoom in you can see the weak colonization underneath. Weak colonization often just means the myc had to move further from the point of inoculation. Just a bit of a mixing issue. If he had that on the bottom he wouldn't know different and already be fruiting.
Coir is forgiving. If the sub was poo or straw that would be a different story.

if it wanted to colonize for a day longer I bet it will do so even if you put it into fruiting or not. the myc decides, not us!

Don't fill the 1/4" holes with poly, you want them open. I would tape up two of them tho and untape when you get back.

Looks good. Is that a coir/verm casing or peat/verm? Because I've heard that peat works better if it is colonized to 30% first. Coir/verm can be fruited right away or colonized till mycelium pokes through.

That's leftover CVG from when I originally mixed the tub. I re-pastierized it last night.
Nice!
