Their life will never be the same and for what? A natural fungi? I have a feeling a hundred years from now drugs will be legal or at least decriminalized and our childrens children will look back upon us with disgust. In the meantime it's better to be safe than sorry. That's why I avoid doing anything that could get me serious time like growing.

Do you have any question as to how the laws became the way they are now?
i come down with a 102-104F fever when I inhale shiitake spores. About 6 hours after exposure. It may not be fatal but I sure feel like I'm dying. So, yeah, spores are hazardous.

So....the police are "waiting for the rest to dry" Why don't they just look it up.....90% water. I counted 39 tubs, he was not getting nearly the quantity he should have been. Imagine the amount of work that goes in to maintaining 40 tubs. Well, I know it was plenty of work.

You're being serious, not sarcastic, right? Just have to make sure..
Are you sure it wasn't the result of allergies maybe? And do you think that inhaling a psilocybin species' spore would cause an equal reaction?
I will admit I've never grown before, but from using them I knew that if they did emit a spore which was deadly to inhale, I would probably be dead by now... Though maybe there are growing processes that I don't know about which expose growers to things that users aren't exposed to, or in lesser amounts.
But as soon as I read that mushrooms emit a "fatal" spore, a red bullshit flag immediately went off in my head.

Some people are seriously allergic to spores.
I can't say that I've heard of anyone having an issue with cube spores in particular, but it can and does happen.
I doubt the police are going to shut down any shiitake grows because of this though.

It's posts like this that really get to me, of coarse we know stropharia cubensis spores are harmless, but most people who read stuff like this are expecting the article to inform them on the issues...
Honestly mushrooms have been sanctioned by thousands of years of human use, there is religious and medicinal/shamanic use of psilocybe fungi, the active compounds are benign, there's only been a few deaths attributed to psilocin, one case involved a heart transplant patient, the rest are murky at best...
So if these mushrooms can't hurt anybody than why the backlash? It can't be the "drug" aspect of it, Americans love drugs, they buy them at every store in every town, so it's not the drug aspect that's bothering them, it must be what the drugs are doing that makes them uncomfortable...Leary once said "LSD is known to cause psychotic behavior in people who have never ingested it" meaning just knowing this stuff exists drives them crazy...
There's also the aspect of culture control, they can't make being a "hippie" or "anti-capitalist" into a crime, so they criminalize the cultures harmless practices...It's been going on since the Spanish reached the new world to find psychedelic plant using natives...
I think the "mushroom cultivaror", "DMT brewer/extractor" and the "LSD Chemists" should be revered and respected positions in society, not quite like the shaman, more like the people who give the shaman access to his plant tools...
That's So many mushrooms to fall into the hands of the police, where they will be mistreated, mishandled, disrespected, and worst yet unconsumed by any explorer...

So it's basically just allergies then?
Would a non-allergic person have any trouble inhaling spores?
