Nice those look like a cultivation, is that a planter?
Here's my newest inoculation project

Got its third bottle ready for my next visit. Hoping for a monster some day. This pile is in the middle of a clear cut made of fir chunks and chips, and has been untouched for years. Nothing grows on it yet

I really do believe this is gymnopilus luteofolius mycelium, but I'm not really sure. If so, there's quite a few logs colonized by this stuff, in close proximity. I'm keeping an eye on this one too.

maybe Lycogala epidendrum
And nice gyms, awesome pins, i love those pics man, favorite species

Found these ones at the same spot found last week.

You were spot on. Looked west of where the last bunch had been found and came across an even bigger cluster. Some of the ones in the back are not edible, any suggestions on what to do with them?

Does Gymnopilus get it's derivation from the word gymnosperm? Why this name?
2nd Q, which is probably less important since Ill never have a verbal discussion, but are these pronounced gym-NAH-pih-lus or gym-no-PILE-us or ...?
2) gym - nop - ilus or listen to Stamets pronounce it.

Just wanted to share.

Luteus is on logs. BLG are ground dwelling stump dwelling. The purple clade of gyms seem to like wood chips but are mostly common on far west coast. Look for old swamp cedar habitat. G braendeleii inhabit that habitat. I think they are really cool. Pink purple orange colors. Vivid blues.http:// http://

The luteus I've found on ground roots and stumps don't bruise much here in PA. But they definately are active.
