Stev0- yes. Luteus will be in same spots for years. Untill wood is gone or competitor fungi takes over. Check in rains of spring summer AND fall. I find gyms fruit in tune with big rains. Keep them spots and keep finding more logs. Head west from first spot. Your bound to find more

Gymnopilus luteus I believe. Found in PA growing from the base of a fallen tree, in a dried swamp area where there's plenty of sunlight. Spore print is rusty orange, pleasant odor, tastes very bitter. Little green & some blueish bruising in spots. Gills bruising rust brown. Had a few good rains last week, but weather has been dry the last two days.

I found these 2 days ago while on a hike through a very public trail, they were growing on a rotting log and they smell extremely sweet.
In my opinion there is green/blue bruising on the aborts but I would like another opinion !
Could only take photos after they were picked as it was a very busy trail !
Let me know what you guys think !!

Gymnopilus luteus for second finds. They tend to be tad bit smaller , skinnier, plus more potent by weight than BLG's.
If you get those BLG's next yr more immature, you'll be in for a treat.

Theres definitely still enough time for another flush, with rain and weather not dropping below 0. Hopefully I can share pictures of another flush.
I can try to catch them before they mature now that I know the specific log, the rusty portion below the cap is my tell tale sign, so i'm glad they were mature when I found them.

My logs have stopped flushing. They produced quite well, but it looks like the fruiting season is over for gums here. At least for luteus.

Hey I think I may have found some Gyms, hoping you cats can help. Found these today in northern GA under a Poplar tree, appearing to be growing from a natural hardwood mulch comprised of Poplars and Oaks. Waiting on a spore print now. Not much bruising yet. I left quite a few in situ to hopefully open cap overnight, which is always helpful
Also threw in some of this year's Weilii
