Munchies
    #2212446 - 12/31/03 06:14 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

This is my first post in this forum. Now, I'm not a very good chef, and I usually just microwave canned food, but I know what I like to do when I'm stoned and have the munchies. I like to take a couple pieces of sliced ham, put butter on one of them and microwave it for about 30 seconds to let the butter melt, and spread it over the top of that piece. Then I put condiments on it like seasoning salt, garlic salt, shredded cheese, bacon bits, etc. Then I put the second piece of ham over it and roll it up like a burrito. It makes for a deliciously artery-clogging snack. What are some of your favorite munchies?

mmmm...  hummus is the shiznit.  You can buy that cheap sliced meat (like 3 packs for a buck) and warm up some cream cheese in the mike and spread it on a slice, roll it up and enjoy.  Awesome snack, it sounds weird but I promise it's delicious.

The beauty of muchie food is its simplicity.  Interesting ideas you people came up with!

I always enjoy triscuit crackers (original or garden herb is my preference) topped with a salty meat and a nice cheese.  The meat and cheese is up to you - pictured is one I made with Italian Dry Salami and Smoked Gouda Cheese topped with some small slices of Yellow Onion:

Probably the best dry cured meat I've ever tried comes from Spain.  They have an entire system based on acorns or something to rate the quality of their cured ham, unfortunately living in the United States I have to settle for what I can get - but when I visited I couldn't get enough of the good stuff.  Pictured is some thinly sliced Jamon Serrano from www.tienda.com on top of some lightly buttered thinly sliced french bread.  This isn't the highest quality (which can imho roughly be told by how much the meat "sweats" when left in open air), but it is so damn tasty... far and above any of the domestic proscuitto or panceta that is common in our markets here.

 munchies
(oh and if anyone is compelled to order specialty foods from spain and are liberal with your palette, you best try some chorizo - much different from the mexican style that is common here and oh so good.. you can even cut off chunks, throw 'em in a flat saucer of an egg or two and microwave it until the egg cooks for another tasty treat :crazy2:)
