Cake taking a little long to fruit. Am I just being impatient?
    #22156691 - 08/28/15 01:40 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

So this cake has been in fruiting now for close to two weeks.  I'm fanning and misting 3 times per day, and I've noticed some outward jutting growths that don't really look like primordia.  I'm growing Penis Envy that was inoculated from MS about two months ago.  I know PE is a notoriously slow colonizer and fruiter, but should I expect pins reasonably soon?

Cut the foil down so it's around the cake.

That looks pretty dry to me. That also looks like aerial mycelium which means it needs more FAE. Where are you keeping it? A closet?

Are their holes on the bottom?

Built to spec? What is SGFC spec, remind me.

I feel like it's been getting pretty good fae as well as humidity.  There is a ceiling fan running on low in the room, plus I manually fan and mist it multiple times per day.  I always make sure there is visible condensation on the sides of the FC.  My FC is certainly a departure from the typical SGFC, but I feel like it should work just fine.

Okay... You have a lot of stuff going on there that doesn't make a lot of sense...

You have perlite in the bottom of the tub but no bottom holes. Also if you did have bottom holes they're now blocked by sitting on the stand and being so close to a wall hinders FAE.

You have a monotub hole there... Really not sure why...

You need 4 inches of perlite there...

Cut the foil down so it's around the cake.

Who told you to build this?

http://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek

Part 3 he builds one.

If you don't want to adjust the build then mist more and add more perlite. But that's a clusterfuck of teks. You should also move that into a more out in the open space so all the holes are receiving an equal amount of air.

there's a few good FC designs for a reason, history has already done the trial and error of weeding out failed designs. until you know what you're doing you should probably print off and follow the directions.

Can make PF cakes correctly
Can't make FC correctly
I don't fucking understand why this always happens. it's like clockwork 2 threads a week.
