Drying Mushrooms: Is there something wrong?

Hello everybody! I'm new in this forum and I'm trying to cultivate shrooms for the first time. I've managed to grow three big shrooms, and now I was trying to dry them. I've read that one of the best ways is to put them in a box with some silica gel inside, and so I've done. I've noticed that, after a couple of days, the stipe is not smooth like in the beginning, but it has become "wooly", like a cotton ball. Is this normal? Or is it a sign of contamination or mold? Since they are quite big, should I cut them in smaller pieces to accelerate the drying proccess? Here are a few pics:

Ok thanks, next time I will. What I'm really interested to know right now, is if that stuff on the stipe is normal during essication, or if it is a sign of contamination. Are they safe to consume, or should I throw them away?

You're good, it's just a sign that you need a bit more fae.

FAE = Fresh air exchange
Either through holes in your tub and/or fanning regularly

Show me a grow where people fanned regularly to provide optimal fae. Air exchange is CONSTANT. You need to exchange the chamber air CONSTANTLY. How often would you need to fan for this? Every 5 minutes. Fanning is ONLY done after misting to help evaporate the water you just added.
Not enough fae? Work on your holes! If you used a mono, get the poly looser. If you used a sgfc raise it off the ground 6 inches and put it in the middle of a big open room. There's literally no chambers (unless big GH's) that would recommend pointing a fan at it. Fans dry things out very quickly.
