There is little to no information on Hemp strains?
Thousands of marijuana strains, tons of information on it.
Little to none on hemp. There are different strains of hemp. Hemp with high levels of CBD's or higher levels of other cannabinoids. Yet there is little to no information on these strains of hemp.
People in recent times are now using hemp to get CBD, since there's really such a minimal chance of getting any THC from hemp. Hemp has high medical value.
Looks like there's room for research and it's a new frontier. Many books are waiting to be written.

Ill be the modern day Jack Herer. He faced the SAME issue but in a different fashion. His ideas where specifically towards the use of hemp for clothing, textiles, oil, every thing else, except medicinal value.

I find it odd that there is little to no information on active cannabis strains, only qualitative reports that seem to conflict from source to source.

I also find it odd.
You can buy CBD oils at headshops. I tried some recently but i honestly can say that i felt no medicinal value from it. I have tried both dropping the oil on my tongue and also vaped it.

I bet that back in the day when farmers were growing hemp for textiles, they chose certain strains that produced thick stems.

I seen a couple of sites that sell hemp plant material (sold for making tea, inhalation, tinctures, and other such sorts) they claim their hemp is rich in CBD. The implication is that they are selling a strain of hemp that is CBD rich. These are all European websites.
It seem's as if its just a marketing tool, since in the world of hemp, all hemp is looked at as the same.
I can only imagine business's know their stuff. Like you said.. maybe a strain with thick stems is desired or another characteristic... I can only imagine people growing industrial hemp know what they want because of their experiences.

It would take many many years before a book was ever written. I would need to start with collecting hemp seeds, from various sources, collecting samples from all the plants. I Would have to send them into a lab to get diagnostics on the cannabinoid levels each. You know.. the types in each strain.. what percentage.
Then.. From each, label them, and create new strains to increase levels of desired cannabinoids..
One could sell / or give for free these seeds on the Internet or where allowed for research.
Hemp can save the world!
