this has been put off way too long and after some hickups slowing me down in a few hours im finally going to have a system the will be fully functional not to mention super fast! near silent and efficient for any projects i take on be it music/video, though some irony here is i need to get out a lot more! and be off this machine which i'm starting to do but as i said its been a long thing to get round to and having a system without all the glitches this has should put my mind in a better space
hoping the change into 64bit won't cause too much of a problem, got the few drivers i need and most the software i have will run already fingers crossed and spent enough time going over config files to make sure i can speed up the process, though i think some may not work in the 64 bit os?
im hoping to get a little something for my old system but not sure it will be much
current spec vs new
1tb ide hdd > 500gb ssd/ 2tb sata 3 hdd amd dual core > i7 quad 2gb 800mhz ram > 8gb 1600mhz win7 32 > win7 64 80 bronze psu > 80+ gold keeping current gfx msi 760
wish me luck

everything should still work. generally, its switching from 64 down to 32 that causes problems. even if something doesnt, you can just reinstall it (assuming you didnt lose the disc or something)
sweet build though.
if thats the GPU i think it is(this one), i built my current PC with it and it died within a few days. thankfully, i was able to get a refund from newegg
ended up going with a way cheaper zotac GT 740 cause i wanted a new GPU right away and that was the only decent one bestbuy had

my gfx is not the hawk edition and has ran perfectly since i installed it about 6 months ago
the new build however...unsucessfull
i had to buy as celeron just to update bios in the first place as the board wouldn't take my i7 out the box, i did this just now using the ez flash in bios and still both i7's i bought dont work, pissed much! after all this unplugging ect and now all i can really do is sell it all and try and dif mobo processor
the only thing i can try is doing it again tomorow but using the updater asus provides you run in windows, .. i have another psu so i can do all this first to see if that even works as some guy said it dod for him but really annoied it didnt work after the update telling me it may be faulty cpu by now i might of been replying on my new system

That's awesome!
I custom built my own computer too a couple years back. I ended up spending around $500. A pre-built computer with these specs would be at least a grand, so I think I came out pretty nicely!!
I'm really not great at most DIY projects, but this one was fun. I've been a computer nerd since I was in elementary school so this was a project I've always wanted to tackle.
Hope everything runs nice and smooth for you

aye it is but guess it's taught me to look more carefully at what im buying and how compatible it all is,
i got the i7's on a free ad's place, 2 for 270 delivered from some poorly english speaking person... they run a shop aparently and were poite etc via text sayign they were tested, i think its compatibilty or ive been had, i could get a z97 board early to really find out but already spent a bit so need to get some back tbh, though i could do this.
