Watering Psilocybin Mushrooms

Greetings, microbiologists, archetypal people and fellow neurons. Recently, I've been contemplating purchasing psilocybin mushroom spores (not for cultivation or anything illegal) and I was thinking if someone were to cultivate this type of fungi, how would they water the mushrooms' food source without risking contamination?
Please, share your knowledge.

You need to start with the basics, man. Do a little reading on this site. When you're ready, look up "Let's Grow Mushrooms" on Google. They're done by RR, and they're the best instructional videos out there. The entire beginner's "PF Tek" video is on that site, and if you want to start somewhere simple and not too laborious, I would check that out. Good luck my friend

Go step by step OP. But start with agar first. Look up Pastywhyte's easy agar tek and put a few drops of the MS syringe on the agar dishes and watch them grow!! (oh and you need a SAB for this)

Deff start on agar but most vendor prints nd syringes should be clean so if this is your first time thru you could skip it but dont cut any other corners or your whole project will contam. Think of agar as mr clean if your shits dirty he cleans it if its not you just cleaned for nothing lol

I have yet to see a syringe with no contams in it. Just saying lol.
I've also seen pf tek succeed 7/10 on a syringe that's pretty contamed. Under the microscope it had lots of bacteria. And on agar I got a 1/10 clean inoc success rate. But that 1 plate was all I needed

I try and simulate the mushrooms natural environment. I grow a patty on top of fine sand, I water the pan so the sub is sitting in a little water just slightly flooded. What water isn't absorbed the next day ill bend the aluminum tilt and pour it into a glass and down the sink. I like to replace lost fluids while fruiting because I don't use any vermiculite in my subs and it helps with the overall humidity in the tent.

Why is it a bad thing to bump old threads?

I'm not interested in responses. I have lurked for years and when I experience something I can't find an existing thread on I make a new one. If a thread exists I add to it. If someone searches the topic it's better that there is one old thread with posts every couple years than 10 threads on the same subject agreed?
I searched the hell out of google trying to find ways to water mycelium and developed my own. I did see one image once that looked like t was from the 70's of someone using sand underneath their cakes.
Now there is 1 more answer written in cycberspace for years to come.

That was the mass harvested off my well hydrated sub, most of the KSSS images I've found online have stumpy shrooms 1" tall. These ones got pretty big and used a lot of water to grow.

So you bumped to tell people to grow ontop of sand, and do bottom watering?
This didn't like deserve its own thread? This is so old, I'd be shocked if the OP still didn't know how to mist a substrate, and bottom water.
FWIW I don't see the point of the sand. I don't use vermiculite either, never had an issue with just misting substrates, and maintaining a glistening surface when they need to be hydrated. I rarely bottom water, and that's only if there's a large flush on the way, and that's just keep on replacing the water every day, kinda like you, without the sand
