Astrophytum Rot
    #22150315 - 08/27/15 08:32 AM (8 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys, Long time lurker the cacti and succulent threads on this board got me interested in this hobby. I am rather embarrassed to admit that despite all my reading I dun goofed. I bought this astro at the beginning of the summer season and when I went to water it for the final time before allowing it to go dormant I noticed a woody spot where the bottom ribs are. So I got a flash light and checked it out and there was some minor yellowing on a patch of thrichomes and directly below this purplish discoloration. So this morning I remove it from its pot to make sure the roots were healthy and give it more room. this is what I uncovered. Do I need to preform surgery? http://imgur.com/TeWcqU6 http://imgur.com/0IuxsMt Sorry about links I couldn't re-size for some reason.

It looks like natural corking in that pic. If it is soft to the touch, it is possibly ok.
