Anyone know anything about kombucha tea? I got a dehydrated kombucha Scoby and I've had it sitting in a jar rehydrating in tea, vinegar and sugar for 1 and a half months and there's no sign of any growth or later on top it doesn't smell bad. I'm wondering what the next step is.?

If it hasn't grown at all in a month and half then throw it away.
Don't buy a dehydrated one next time. Start with some non flavored, raw kombucha, and grow one. Lots of websites will tell you how to do it.

I found a site that says it's ok. I just rehydrated but won't grow until I transfer it to a new tea. Thanks though. It smells good. I'm not chucking it

It doesn't matter if it's transferred to a new tea. It should have still grown to fill the entire surface in a month and half.
Just got buy a bottle of GT Kombucha from your local health food store and pour it into about 5 quart jars. In a month you will have 5 scobys. Pour them all into one or two larger containers and then you can actually make Kombucha. You might as well do that anyways even if yours is fine, just to speed up the process. But it doesn't look healthy at all to me.

http://www.kombuchabrooklyn.com/blog/dehydrated_scoby/ This is what someone showed me. How can it grow if it was dehydrated all I did was rehydrate it so there's no more sugar content or anything to feed it to grow I dunno you probably know better than me lol

You said you added tea and sugar to it in the first post though. So what is it in? Tea, or tea/sugar/vinegar?
