shrooms that were dried/stored aren't really dry anymore

A friend of mine down the road dried a good number of cubes out and then put them in these old empty peanut containers ( you know those ones you get at publix for $3 a pound or so ) and put them in the fridge

Well it turns out after like 2 or 3 weeks now after checking on them, they're certainly not cracker dry anymore.

Is this a concern? Should he put them back on the dehydrator?

Make very sure they're not growing mold or anything before taking them.

Almost certainly lost potency if they've been wet for that long. ^ Also yeah check for mold.

Just for next time, it isn't necessary to refrigerate cracker-dry mushrooms. They just need to be sealed airtight (in a jar works really well) and stored in the dark.

Hell I still have potent dried mushrooms that were picked in June 2013 and they were never refrigerated.

as long as they dont smell rotten or have mold they are safe but you should be able to put them back in the dehydrator again.
