Multi Strain Straw Monotub Grow Log - First Grow!

This is my friend's first grow log here. He says hello to everyone!
He prepared quart jars of WBS spawn via doc34's tek. (with some slight variations such as lid design) and inoculated with MS syringes. The 4 strains were Golden Teacher, Hawaiian, Ecuador, and Mazatapec.

Two weeks later and the jars were fully colonized.

(Minus only one casualty caused by what he thinks must have been bacterial --- off-colored, slimy, wrinkled. Definitely not myc. Sorry no picture)
All other jars looked good, all white and healthy. He even thought that the mycelium looked like the pictures of rhizomorphic growth he had seen.

There were some "satellite" grains that the mycelium leaped up to colonize.

He then spawned them to straight straw pasteurized via RR's videos, In opaque mono tubs modeled after those in Fahtsters tek. He stacked them in a small closet with a fan blowing directly on them (he learned about not doing this later) and let them colonize. The myc very quickly ripped through the straw which had NOT been compressed (learned about this later, too.)

The Maz tub was lost to contamination, probably trich... (He didn't keep it in the house long enough to find out.) He hears trich is common in straw grows.
The holes had been covered with Tyvek tape during colonization. He was told that this and the crack under the lid allow for some GE but not FAE.

12 days later and the 3 remaining tubs seemed to be fully colonized.

The mycelium looked strange... a little bit stringy? Ropey? Not solid like other straw tubs he had seen. Did it look like this because it was "going aerial" to colonize over large air gaps between the straw? Or was it thirsty and searching for water?
Or was it good rhizomorphic mycelium? It looked like there were knots in the myc.

Either way, gotta press on with his project since he had vacation plans in the near future and this was on a timeline. He decided not to case this substrate as he heard straw fruits best without casing. So he went ahead and introduced fruiting conditions by removing the Tyvek tape and replacing it with polyfill - loose on top and tight in the bottom (just like your mother.) The fan in the room was pointed away from the tubs and a few 6500k fluorescents were turned on roughly 12-12. The lids were replaced with glad press and seal wrap with holes poked in it, à la Fahtster. He also fanned and misted (not necessary with a mono tub, but seemed like a good idea because he had read enough RR posts about FAE being so important.) Perhaps this was overkill. Time will tell.
Speaking of time, let's take a quick detour back to the early 1970's... Wait, are those chemtrails?

...And we're back.
It's been three days of fanning 4-ish times a day after misting with spring water (very special spring water, actually collected from a sacred spring.) Mostly misted the sides of the tub, but some fine mist did land on the substrate.
Upon close inspection he noticed this...

Can you see the pin?

First pin ever! It's the GT tub.
Now he's in the home stretch and still fanning and misting, hoping for more pins to develop on this and the other tubs.
He also snapped a few pictures of the myc in all three tubs to get opinions from the community.
Does any of this look odd?

Look too wet to you?

Fingers crossed for good results.
Updates soon to follow next time I visit him.

I'm amazed at how fast these pins pop up and grow!
This is the first pin I have been tracking and look how much it's grown in only a few hours!
1.

2.

3.

Here's a close up of the myc. All the tubs look like this.

Could this little grey alien be the first Hawaiian pin?

Oi! What the bugger is that over in Ecuador?!

Here are the Tibetan singing bowls that they get to listen to when I'm fanning and misting. OOOOOMMMMMMMM

And the holiday edition press and seal wrap... It feels like Christmas every time I open these tubs up!

Okay here is an update:
Hawaiian and Ecuador have pins

Here's the sprout

And GT is developing more

The mushrooms seem a little bit small... Is this because of lack of moisture? Low substrate depth (3.5 inches)?
Also what's up with this blueing of the mycelium? Could this be over drying? I am leaning towards this as I live in a very dry climate.

Any input would be appreciated. Especially TC's... Do you think the blueing is because it's too dry?
Thanks

it doesn't take a TC to tell the bluing is from dryness unless you dropped your phone on it when snapping pics or otherwise touched it roughly but it looks like it's drying out a bit as its definitely not glimmering with moisture like it should be which could be partly causing the small fruits but its prob just genetics since you inoculated with MS find a nice big cluster and clone it!!for your next run really though those shrooms don't look too small they just look like average pins to me either way great job bro keep it up I just got into straw this summer I like how clean the mush is when it comes off of straw way easier to clean IMO and I waste less when "trimming" my mush butts...lolz i'm in the process of testing cold pasteurized straw ATM I have 2 tubs 100% colonized that im going to build a dub tub setup for it today to fruit as a kinda proof of concept hopefully it works out everythings gone great so far and this method of pasteurization is so cheap and easy id like to adapt it to my method if all works well

Thanks for the reply tetherface
Would you suggest I plug the polyfill more tightly? Mist more? Dunk?
I bet the second flush would be better after a dunk, huh?
Sorry, I'm just getting the hang of how to ask questions on this forum
thanks everyone for the help

When you're going for a second flush dunk it because it's lost a lot of moisture.
Mist it and tighten your top polyfill. You don't want the surface to ever be dry, you always want those tiny beads of moisture so if you dont' see them your tub could use a mist. Tightening your top polyfill restricts the amount of air coming in and thus the amount of air drying out your sub.

Harvested the first mature fruits!
They ended up finishing small like I thought

There is still a second part of the first flush that is yet to mature. Part 1 of the first harvest is 96 grams. Roughly 9 grams dry, right?

They seem nice and meaty with solid stems. They are bruising dark blue.

I came back from a day trip to the woods and found them ready to be picked. I think I got them at the right time, either just before or after the veils were breaking.

Side note: The problem was low humidity! So I packed the polyfill in very tightly in the top and bottom holes and gave one solid mist today. The fruits seemed to do more today than they have in the past 2 or 3 days and I think it's cause they finally had the humidity they needed. Not to mention tons of new pins I definitely underestimated the dry desert climate I live in.
Next time I run tubs uncased I will be doing the wax paper tek, where you crumple up wax paper then lay it out flat over the substrate during fruiting. RR and others say this acts like a casing layer to provide a near 100% humidity micro climate at the fruiting surface.
My goal is wall to wall flushes of big, meaty fruits. Probably gonna start experimenting with coir. Anyone got experience with coir? Know of the right tek for me to use? How about additives? Coffee, worm castings, etc.
