pot addiction is absolutely real.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1575338/
We conclude that, whereas Δ9-THC alters the activity of these central reward pathways in a manner that is consistent with other abused drugs, the cellular mechanism through which this occurs is likely different, relying upon the combined regulation of several afferent pathways to the VTA.

Just more government propaganda. Sure weed is addictive but so is caffeine and nicotine or anything else that brings pleasure. In the spectrum of drugs, the addiction is pretty minuscule.
I think it really depends individually on the person.

Well I'll leave it to you to explain the purpose of the ventral tegmental area and the nucleus accumbens. Some people find smoking weed rewarding, but these same pathways could very well be activated in the same way naturally as well, and who is to say what is and isn't appropriate when it comes to people deciding what is and isn't justifiably rewarding.
I think overall it's a pretty damn safe drug, especially considering that it can have a pretty profound effect. Some people go overboard, but in terms of a threat to our youth I would say reports are greatly exaggerated. I'm not saying it's for everybody, but trying to demonize it is silly. There's a clear difference between "addictive drugs" and something that people enjoy and do out of habit. For me it seems like the longer I've smoked weed, the easier it has become to manage and have discipline in when and how I smoke, which just isn't the case with some other drugs that totally got under my skin and made me crash and burn.

But if I am hanging with people or traveling and camping and doing active stuff I don't need it like I would if I was not doing anything. I just don't need or want to smoke when I am being active.
I don't know about anyone else but that is just me.

Saying 'marijuana addiction' is like saying 'military intelligence'. The 2 words don't belong together.

Coincidentally the day i posted this i ended up having extremely bad nightmares that police were after me.
Its weird because this is how i used to lucid dream.. By just thinking about lucid dreaming then it would haplen that very night. Same happened with regular dreaming.
Wish i didnt have those nightmares though i got terrible sleep due to that. I was on the run in my dreams all night.
And im sorry but marijuana 'addiction' is for weaker minds or something. I used to think i was addicted to weed until probation forced me to stop. Then i realized it was a breeze.
I was as big of a pothead as anyone on here and i would get anxiety without weed.
Just sayin..

Yeah quitting weed is no problem for me even after 12 years of all day daily smoking, there is zero withdrawal if I quit.
Unfortunately the same is not true for kratom, and I now have my first real addiction.
Could be worse, could be better, but could be much worse.
