Using MJ in a hotel in a legal state?

We are taking a 2 week vacation to a legal state. We won't have more than an ounce each (the legal limit). The hotel prevents smoking tobacco. Will we be hassled by cops? Or is it up to the hotel policy? I'd venture a guess if you can't smoke tobacco then they're not weed friendly. However the research I've done says as long as it's not a hotel lobby you'll be fine. We are both pain patients and need it for nausea, pain, anxiety and insomnia between the both of us. Obviously we would like to enjoy our vacation but wouldn't without our medicine.
A hotel room would be considered a private place to consume right?
Thank you in advance for your constructive help and advice.

I went to Denver in September 2013, when it was legal to posess but not sold in shops. We chonged the shit out of our cheap hotel every night without any worries or hassles. I even asked the girl at the desk where to get some pot and she just giggled and said it was still illegal to sell it so she couldn't help me.
More expensive hotels are less likely to hassle you unless another guest complains. Cops can't do anything, it's legal. If it happens to be against hotel policy you'll likely get a warning from the staff first (and maybe pay an extra fee) and then if you don't stop they may throw you out, but the cops still couldn't charge you for pot and they'd only be called if you caused a problem.
TL;DR - it's legal. Cops can't bust you. Follow hotel policy. And don't take pot out of a legal state. Cops are awful at the borders.

Legal weed and I'm still paranoid about cops, arrests, harassment. We just want to be on vacation for the first time in a long time. I appreciate your reply to such a "silly" question with an "obvious" answer.
Thank you for your time reading my post and response.. we are eventually uprooting our lives and family to find sanctuary in a medical and legal state. Would like to experience it first and mingle with the locals, but also get all touristy before winter hits.
Your response made me smile... tired of living in pain and seeing my wife waste away at the same time. It is difficult. It's our first time away for an extended period in the past 7 years, and before that our honeymoon.
I guess a smoke buddy and a wet towel under the door couldn't hurt, I hate disrupting guests in hotels over anything, even if officers would leave us alone.
If anyone has anything else to add about Washington or Oregon please let me know.
Much love and shroominess from us both.

Got some smokeless metal pieces and smoke buddies with no issues. A dozen college kids came in the other night and the hallway stunk, no one cared, the people with 3 kids had their room moved.
Sorry for the silly thread but last time I smoked in a hotel, Reagan had just gotten out of office. Marijuana addicts and the devil and all that.

As long as your not in public, the police can't do anything, a hotel is a great place, the hotel people may get upset, but the police can't do anything...
Wait until you get out here, the first time I got pulled over and the cop HAD to return my weed was a euphoric moment for me.
The cops out here basically ignore marijuana unless your very obviously smoking while walking down the street, or in a crowded public park...
The rule is you can carry 2 ounces in public, but can't smoke in public.

I just looked this up, actually.
In a state where recreational use is legal, hotels will have their own policies dictating how marijuana can be smoked on the property. Typically, these hotel rules reflect their rules on tobacco smoking. Often, you are allowed to smoke on balconies, however there's a law about not being allowed to smoke where you are in public view. I doubt you would be hassled by the cops if they saw you from your balcony, though.
Some hotels still don't allow marijuana, and some hotels don't allow any smoking of any kind. It's best to check with the front desk when you check in and sign the agreements (No pets, no smoking, no parties, etc.). It's not uncommon for hotels to have a smoking area, though I'm not sure how many of them allow marijuana into those areas.

don't overthink it. even if worst came to worst all you would do is get refunded your money and move to a different hotel.
smoke in your bathroom with the exhaust fan on middle grade style.

5. What measures will Marriott take to enforce the Smoke-free Hotel policy? The policy is integrated in the Marriott Quality Assurance process. All associates have been trained to respond to potential violations of the policy. For example, housekeepers are trained to observe signs of smoking in the hotel. Guests are reminded at the time of booking and upon arrival at the hotel that smoking is not permitted inside the building. Pre-arrival email notifications also include a reference to the policy. There is a significant room recovery fee for guests who do not comply in order to cover the extensive cost of restoring guest rooms to a smoke-free condition.

At the hotel I worked in, it was a $100 charge every time someone was caught smoking in the rooms. Not just once, but multiple charges for multiple infractions. In fact, several of our guests who were more financially endowed just didn't pay any attention to the rule because $100 was worth it to them to be able to smoke in their room. I don't know what our security guards did about marijuana. We had one bigger name athlete stay with us who would smoke weed on the public terrace. We're not aa state where weed was legal, but I don't think he got in any more trouble than the tobacco smokers.
