These can all fit in the OP, it's a matter of how often and kind though.

Seeing how everyone is different, and we give our own meaning to what has been mentioned in the OP....

What makes you think everyone isn't already doing such OP?

You sound like my girlfriend. My guess to answer that hypothesis would be....Probably owned and ruled by a country run by people with considerably less ethical standards.

I have considered this multiple times. Seems great but I am not sure I could just let go like that

Also, I don't like being part of any religion. I dont like the idea. And to become a man of religion ie a monk or sadhu, I would need to choose either tibetan buddhism or hinduism

Whether I am officially a "monk" or not, I figure I would spend old age just meditating most of the day. If I had a dog, I would play with him. But other than that, just meditating, occassional mushrooms and weed

Regardless thanks for the input ya'll

yeah that's a good approach i think - personally for me I feel there'd be no additional benefit to becoming a monk over just leading a meditation-centric lifestyle as you describe

agreed

:whathesaid:

More specifically, I would just do what I do in my spare time, all day. I normally meditate and read about 30-60 daily. I would just extend that to 3-4 hours

I guess rather then "be a monk" permanently I want to spend some time (a few weeks minimum, preferably a few months) living in an ashram/monastery type situation and really focusing completely on meditation and yoga.

I have done a Buddhist meditation retreat and loved it, and would love to do that experience in a foreign country for a longer time.

However, if my wife ever died I would become a monk permanently I think. Thats what I am keeping up my sleeve in case of the ultimate tragedy- a big trip first through a few countries, then end at a monastery or ashram where I would begin a new life dedicated entirely to spirituality and meditation.

how comfortable i get, sticking to my routine, reveling in the mind, 'one day..', 'i wish my lifestyle were such...'  i see the end goal, that desired state of being, but always feel so far from it.  but how i consistently dismiss how far i've come.  each day closer, each decision for better or for worse. closer. closer. im already there...

funny you mention that. I was thinking exactly this

If there was any huge tragedy in my life, I would become a monk shortly afterwards
