talking to god
    #2214036 - 01/02/04 12:21 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

If you could talk to God on the condition that you could always talk to him and understand him, but nobody afterwards would be able to understand a word you were saying would you?

Me, nope.

Talk to God about what? Wouldn't this presume He'd talk to us back, or answer our questions, or tell us what to do to be healthy, wealthy and wise?

Would I get to use sign language or pen and paper afterwards?

Anything you like and all your uestions would be answered, but whatever for m of communication you used afterwards would be not understood, garbled, misunderstood, you would have only God to communicate with afterwards.

Then I'd wait and talk to God after I die, tyvm.

I would...people would see me frothing at the mouth, rampaging drunk in public, waxing jibberish all about the place, and they would say "Jesus, what's this asshole's fuckin' problem," thinking that nothing was different about me. But little would they know, I talked to God.

I talk to God every day... my roommate, my co-workers, my friends, et cetera.

Sometimes the conversations are boring.

Hey look I'm talking to God right now.

>will get you nowhere.

is there such thing as a nowhere? I mean if there were where would it be? If it was somewhere it wouldnt be nowhere and if it wasnt somewhere there would be nowhere to put nothing. But then there is the word for it - nowhere, but words(all audible language that is) are metaphors, not the real thing, would that make nowhere a metaphor for no metaphor, or maybe nowhere is just an inside-out somewhere...but what's an inside out nowhere, if it was a somewhere already what's the point of calling it nowhere? I don't know but look where it's gotten me, not somewhere. :wtf:

if I'm "allowed" to talk to god then I'd think it would be ok only because I have this ability to.

since I don't right now, and if I was givien the option I wouldnt. not because of communication per se, but rather that if I don't have the ability now, then there must be a good reason why.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

look at the zen monks.. they 'talk to god all the time' and know the ineffeble truth. But noone understands the lunatics or there crazy wisdom. But judging by the happiness and contentment i percieved when i talked to these people id say they have never regreted the ordinary life they traded for a life od divine contemplation. I mean this question comes down to "would you leave everything you have and live like a religious hermit?"
