WBS Jars
    #22139397 - 08/25/15 07:38 AM (8 years, 5 months ago)

So I followed Franks 12 Step for my king oyster but I followed it badly and my jars were filled to the top. Now they are nearly impossible to break apart. Any advice

Wrap a towel around your hand and slam like you're slamming your fist on the table

The mushroom speaks: '"I am old, older than thought in your species, which is itself fifty times older than your history. Though I have been on earth for ages I am from the stars. My home is no one planet, for many worlds scattered through the shining disc of the galaxy have conditions which allow my spores an opportunity for life... How the hypercommunication mode operates is a secret which will not be lightly given to man. But the means should be obvious: it is the occurrence of psilocybin and psilocin in the biosynthetic pathways of my living body that opens for me and my symbiots the vision screens to many worlds"

Put on a pair of gloves, hold them by the tops, and beat them against the wall of a car tire. That's how I do mine every time. You should have no problem breaking them up.

I've overfilled some of my WBS jars as well. Tried beating them to no avail, figured I'd just let them finish like a cake and crumble when I spawn. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this?

:whathesaid: but a bike tire. bikes are a bit more portable. you can take it somewhere else other than your driveway so clean up is easier.

If you can't break them apart by shaking or beating, what else can you do than let them finish colonizing and scoop the wbs out of the jars with a spoon? If, after a good beating, the wbs is still not yielding, then you have to go to plan B.

I did that on two of the jars. One ended up being cobweb...the other is half colonized already. Thanks.

I've always used a kitchen knife.  Just stick it in, twist, shake.  Not had any problems with it that I'm aware of.  Sterile procedure is already over once you're spawning.

--------------------

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

No, this does not look right...

Better in the backyard, shed, or even ur kitchen than the car in the driveway or side of the road. Or break glass all over the place you consistantly park.garage wouldnt be too bad though

well..I didn't follow directions very well...its all good. I lost another 3 to contam. Ive got 3 that look like they will make it, and Ive got 5 with 0 colonization.

Ive got some agar on the way, and I Plan to print to agar, and isolate clean mycelium for my next go at it. I need to purchase new jars.
